Begin your day with a peaceful sunrise flight above the UNESCO-listed city of Segovia before sitting down to enjoy one of the region's most famous culinary traditions. Combining spectacular aerial views with authentic local cuisine, this experience offers a memorable way to discover both the history and flavours of this remarkable destination.
Arriving before sunrise, you'll be welcomed by the flight crew before travelling to the nearby launch site. Watching the balloon inflate is an experience in itself, and your pilot will explain how the flight works while carrying out the final preparations. Once everything is ready, you'll climb into the basket and gently lift away from the ground as daylight begins to spread across the landscape.
From above, Segovia reveals a completely different character. The Roman Aqueduct stretches across the city below, the Gothic Cathedral dominates the skyline from its elevated position, and the Alcázar stands proudly on its rocky outcrop. Without engine noise, you'll simply drift with the breeze, giving you plenty of time to take in the scenery, capture photographs and enjoy the calm atmosphere that makes ballooning so special.
After touching down, the celebrations begin with a glass of cava and a picnic breakfast while the ground crew pack away the balloon. You'll receive a flight certificate signed by your pilot before returning by 4x4 to the departure point. Rather than ending there, the day continues with a traditional three-course Segovian lunch featuring regional favourites, including a choice of Judiones de La Granja or Castilian soup, roast suckling pig or salmon, and the famous Ponche Segoviano dessert, accompanied by coffee, water and house wine.
Set within the heart of Castile and León, Segovia is renowned for its remarkable collection of historic architecture and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Balloon flights operate from carefully selected launch areas on the outskirts of the city, allowing the pilot to choose the most suitable location according to the morning's weather conditions.
Beyond the flight itself, you'll have the opportunity to experience one of Segovia's best-known culinary traditions. After returning from your flight, the included lunch offers another way to experience the city's heritage, making this a rewarding full-day activity for visitors travelling from Madrid or elsewhere in Spain.
Suitable for anyone aged 6 years and over, this experience requires no previous ballooning experience. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the activity.
Comfortable clothing and practical footwear are recommended, as you'll be walking across open ground before take-off and after landing. Trainers or walking shoes are ideal, while sandals and high heels should be avoided. A cap or hat is also recommended.
Rather than simply offering a balloon flight, this experience combines two of Segovia's highlights into one carefully planned day. You'll experience the city from above at sunrise before enjoying a meal based around traditional regional dishes, creating a more complete introduction to the area.
Every detail has already been arranged, including breakfast, the post-flight celebration, return transfers, professional photography, HD video and your three-course lunch. With experienced pilots and a dedicated ground crew throughout the day, you can focus entirely on enjoying the experience.
This experience is ideal for anyone who wants more than a standard balloon flight. Alongside the aerial views of Segovia, you'll also enjoy a traditional local meal, making it an excellent choice for couples, families, groups of friends and visitors looking for a full morning and afternoon activity.
It's also popular for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations, as it combines sightseeing, local culture and memorable dining into one well-organised experience.
The lunch celebrates classic Segovian cuisine. You'll choose either Judiones de La Granja or Castilian soup as your starter, followed by roast suckling pig or salmon for the main course. To finish, you'll enjoy Ponche Segoviano, one of the city's best-known desserts.
Coffee, water and house wine are included with the meal, allowing you to relax and enjoy the regional flavours after your flight.
The balloon flight itself lasts around one hour, while the remaining time includes preparation, travelling to the launch site, the post-flight breakfast, the cava toast, return transfers and the traditional lunch.
The schedule is designed so that each part of the experience can be enjoyed at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed between activities.
Early morning provides the most suitable conditions for hot air ballooning, with calmer winds and excellent visibility. As the sun rises, the changing light creates beautiful views across Segovia and the surrounding countryside.
Many guests find this to be one of the most memorable parts of the experience, as the city slowly comes to life beneath the balloon while the morning remains peaceful and quiet.
Yes. Children aged 6 years and above are welcome when accompanied by an adult. The combination of the gentle balloon flight and the included lunch makes this a family-friendly experience suitable for a wide range of ages.
Parents often appreciate that the activity doesn't require any previous experience or physical fitness, allowing everyone to simply relax and enjoy the day.
Choose clothing that you would normally wear for a countryside walk. Layers are useful during the cooler early morning, while comfortable trainers or walking shoes provide the best footing at the launch and landing areas.
A hat or cap is recommended, and it's best to avoid sandals or high heels due to the grassy fields used during the experience.
