What should I bring with me for the weekend?

Clothing: Wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions. A minimum of a base layer and a warm mid-layer is recommended. Avoid cotton and denim, as they retain water and lose insulating properties when wet. Bring a spare warm layer for after paddling. Footwear: Pack shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. Water shoes or old trainers work best. Personal Equipment: If you have personal paddling equipment, including a buoyancy aid and helmet, feel free to bring it. Otherwise, we provide these items. Other Essentials: Include a dry set of clothes to change into after the day’s activities, suncream, lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.

Can I hire equipment from the centre?

Yes, we offer the option to hire necessary equipment if you do not have your own. Please use the details on your booking confirmation to contact us in advance to arrange this and confirm availability.

What is the meeting point and time each day?

We meet at Ardvonnie Car Park in Kingussie at 08:30. This location is our starting point for the day's activities. If you need anything before the session begins, there are several cafes in Kingussie that open early.

Are there any specific physical or skill requirements?

Participants should have intermediate paddling skills and be comfortable handling a canoe in grade 2 to 3 rapids. This retreat is not designed for beginners.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We will assess weather conditions daily to ensure safety. If weather conditions are deemed unsafe, we will either reschedule or make alternative arrangements. Safety is our priority, and we will keep you informed of any changes.

Is accommodation included?

No, accommodation is not included. Please arrange your own place to stay overnight or contact us for local recommendations.
