This mountain flight takes tandem paragliding into higher terrain above the Benasque Valley, offering longer airtime and wider views across the Pyrenees. Two options are available, a standard mountain flight and an extended version, both guided by a certified pilot from take-off to landing.
The experience starts with a drive of around 45 minutes from the meeting point into the higher mountain area above the valley. As the road climbs, the scenery opens out, giving a clear sense of scale across the surrounding peaks before reaching the take-off zone.
At launch, the pilot prepares the equipment and runs through a short briefing so everything is clear before take-off. A few steps forward is all it takes before the wing lifts and you are airborne, moving smoothly into open air above the valley and surrounding ridgelines. The flight follows natural air currents across the El Solano area, with wide views towards well-known peaks including Posets, Aneto and Turbón. The standard option focuses on a solid mountain flight experience, while the extended version allows more time to stay in the air and enjoy longer sections of soaring when conditions allow.
Landing takes place in the valley below, guided by the pilot with a controlled descent and clear instructions before touch down. After the flight, there is time to review photos and videos if you choose to add them, capturing the full experience from take-off to landing.
Flights operate in the higher mountain areas above Castejón de Sos, within the Benasque Valley region of the Pyrenees. This zone sits above the main valley floor, giving access to greater height differences and longer flight paths compared to lower valley flights.
The El Solano area is known for its open terrain and wide visibility across the mountain range. From the air, you can see across multiple valleys and ridgelines, with long-range views that stretch towards some of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees.
No previous flying experience is required, and the activity is suitable for first-time flyers. A basic level of mobility is needed, as take-off involves a short walk and a few steps on uneven ground.
Mountain conditions can vary more than valley flights, so comfortable outdoor clothing and suitable footwear are important. The pilot manages all technical aspects of the flight, so no preparation beyond basic readiness is needed.
Flights are led by experienced certified pilots who regularly fly in the Benasque Valley and surrounding mountain areas. Their familiarity with local conditions helps ensure each flight is adapted to the day’s weather and terrain.
The focus is on giving a well-managed mountain experience from start to finish. From the drive into higher terrain to the final landing in the valley, every stage is handled with clear communication, careful planning and attention to safety.
The mountain flight takes place from a higher elevation, allowing longer airtime and wider views across multiple valleys and peaks. It feels more expansive due to the greater height difference from take-off to landing.
Valley flights are shorter and closer to the launch area, while mountain flights offer more time in the air and a broader sense of distance covered. These can be found alongside our other exeriences below.
No experience is required, and everything is managed by the pilot. The activity is designed for beginners as well as those trying paragliding for the first time.
A short briefing is given before take-off so you know exactly what will happen at each stage.
You travel by vehicle into the higher mountain area, which takes around 45 minutes depending on conditions. The route passes through changing landscapes as the altitude increases.
This journey is part of the experience, giving a clear sense of how high the take-off point is compared to the valley below.
Flights are carried out by certified and experienced pilots who regularly fly in the area. Safety procedures are followed throughout every stage of the experience.
Conditions are checked before each flight, and flights only take place when they are suitable for tandem flying.
Comfortable outdoor clothing is recommended, including long trousers, a wind jacket and layers depending on the season. Closed shoes such as trainers or hiking boots are best.
Avoid loose items that could come off during flight, and dress for mountain weather, which can change quickly.
Small cameras or phones can sometimes be taken if securely attached, but it depends on conditions and pilot advice on the day.
A photo and video service is also available so you can focus fully on the flight without handling equipment.
Flights depend entirely on weather conditions, especially wind direction and strength. If conditions are not suitable, the flight will be rescheduled.
Safety is always the priority, and decisions are made by experienced pilots based on real-time conditions.
Flights take place above the Castejón de Sos area in the Benasque Valley, starting from higher mountain take-off points. The route varies depending on wind and conditions.
The El Solano area provides wide open flying space with strong natural lift potential.
Flight time depends on the option chosen and the weather conditions on the day. Standard flights last around 20–30 minutes, while extended flights can last up to around 40 minutes.
The pilot adjusts the route and flight style to make the most of available conditions.
Many people who feel nervous about heights still enjoy tandem paragliding, as take-off is gradual and controlled rather than sudden.
Once in the air, the sensation is usually more about smooth movement than height itself, and the pilot ensures a calm and steady experience throughout.
