We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
Feel the wind in an open-cockpit flexwing microlight above Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, and Cambridgeshire. You can take the controls from the back seat or simply soak up the views while your instructor flies. It is a brilliant treat for yourself or a gift that feels genuinely unforgettable.
Your flying day starts with a weather check so you only go when conditions are right; if the sky is not suitable, we simply pick another day together. At the aerodrome you might watch a flexwing climb away from the viewing area or relax with a cuppa in the crew room until your pilot meets you, walks you round the aircraft, and runs a plain-language safety brief before fitting your flying suit, helmet, and headset.
Then you are airborne over three counties, with landmarks such as Rockingham Castle, Boughton House, and Rutland Water below you. Take the controls from the back seat if you wish, or let your instructor fly while you enjoy the open cockpit. After landing comes a short debrief and ground photos with the aircraft, while friends and family watch from the viewing area. Cameras stay on the ground during the flight, but there is plenty of time to capture the moment once you are back.
Deenethorpe Aerodrome sits on a historic former RAF station with wide runways and roomy skies that suit scenic flexwing flying. It is an easy place to find your feet on the ground before you leave them for a while in the air.
Parking and spectator spots mean you can share the build-up and landing with people who came along for the day. The mix of heritage airfield and rolling countryside makes the whole visit feel a bit special even before you take off.
You need to be at least 14 and weigh no more than 105kg fully clothed so the aircraft stays within safe limits. No flying experience is needed and first-timers are very welcome.
Wear sturdy lace-up shoes or trainers (no open-toed sandals) and bring socks because your ankles feel the airflow. Gloves are optional for comfort; we provide the flying suit, helmet, and headset.
You fly with a qualified instructor who keeps things friendly, clear, and safety-led from brief to touchdown. The flexwing experience is proper open-air flying, not a sealed cabin tour, and your session is paced to your confidence on the day.
Gift vouchers are designed to take the pressure off: there is no fixed expiry while we are still flying, the name on a voucher can be changed if you pass it on, and if a recipient truly will not fly you can request a refund within 28 days of purchase. That makes it much easier to give someone a bold present without the worry.
Flights take place at Deenethorpe Aerodrome, Corby, NN17 3AN. Use sat nav to the aerodrome postcode and follow local airfield signage to the flying school parking area.
Allow a little extra time on your first visit so you can find the crew room and viewing areas comfortably before your briefing.
Your session includes a pre-flight briefing, all the kit you need in the air, and time flying in the flexwing with your instructor beside you. You can take the controls if you want to, or ride along while they fly.
After landing there is a short debrief and time for photos on the ground. The longer option simply gives you more minutes to enjoy the views and try handling the aircraft.
Yes, when the weather is suitable and you are happy to, you can fly from the back seat with your instructor talking you through each step. If you would rather watch the world go by, they will do the flying while you enjoy the ride.
There is no pressure either way. The goal is a safe, grin-inducing flight that matches your comfort level on the day.
Microlights need decent weather, so we only go when it is safe. If we need to postpone, we will arrange another flying day without any fuss.
We would rather wait for the right conditions than rush a flight you will not enjoy. Your instructor will explain the call on the day.
You can buy a voucher for a 30 or 60 minute flight and give it as a present for birthdays, Christmas, or any excuse to be generous. If it is a gift, say so when you get in touch so we can set up the voucher properly.
Vouchers are meant to be stress-free: there is no fixed expiry while we are still operating, you can transfer a voucher to someone else if plans change, and if a recipient will not fly at all you can request a refund within 28 days of purchase.
Passengers must be at least 14 years old and weigh no more than 105kg fully clothed. Those limits keep the aircraft performing safely and comfortably.
Complete beginners are welcome and your instructor stays with you throughout. No previous flying experience is required.
Wear sensible lace-up shoes or trainers and socks, because your ankles are open to the airflow in a flexwing. You may bring gloves if you like.
We supply the flying suit, helmet, and headset. Choose clothes you can move in easily and leave loose scarves or items that could flap free in the wind.
Yes, there is a viewing area where people can watch take-offs and landings and soak up the airfield atmosphere. It is a fun day out even if only one person is flying.
There are spots to grab refreshments nearby, and plenty of ground photo chances with the aircraft once you are back on terra firma.
Cameras are not used during the flight itself so your instructor can focus on flying safely and you can focus on the experience.
Before and after the flight there is time for photos on the ground with the microlight, which is usually when you want that big celebratory shot anyway.
Absolutely. Many guests have never been near a microlight before and feel a flutter of nerves right until the wheels leave the grass. Your pilot will not rush you and the brief is designed to be simple, not scary.
You choose how much you participate on the controls. Plenty of people start as passengers and still call it the best thing they did all year.
This activity is for air experience and gift flights: sightsee, feel the open cockpit, and optionally try the controls for fun. It is not the structured path toward a pilot licence.
If you catch the flying bug and want to train toward an NPPL(M), look at the learn-to-fly microlight training activity for your introductory hour instead. Your instructor can talk you through the right next step after your experience flight.
