Golden hour on Vesuvius slopes, a gentle guided ride through vineyards and volcanic landscapes, and a countryside BBQ with local wine as the sky darkens above the bay shape this four-hour evening. Couples, friends and families who want something more memorable than a standard restaurant dinner near Pompei find farm-to-table flavours from the Campanian countryside waiting at the end of the trail.
Central Pompei is the meeting point before a transfer to a rural estate surrounded by olive trees and vines. A short briefing and helmet fitting precede introductions to your horse, then sunset trails open up with views over the Bay of Naples as the light softens and the air cools.
Permitted routes below the crater rim keep the ride on calm ground, with photo stops built in and a pace that suits first-time riders as well as experienced guests. Calm horses matched to each rider and a guide who stays close throughout let you focus on the scenery rather than the reins.
Back at the estate, a farm-to-table venue serves a countryside BBQ with grilled local specialities and wines grown on volcanic soil. Dishes change with the season and reflect produce from the slopes around Vesuvius, eaten under the stars in an intimate setting.
Minutes from Pompei yet a world away from the archaeological crowds, the estate sits on the lower slopes of Vesuvius. Vineyards and olive groves grow in mineral-rich soil here, and on clear evenings the gulf opens up towards Naples and Capri as the sun drops behind the hills.
Via Plinio 46 in central Pompei is where the evening begins, with the Circumvesuviana railway stopping nearby. We handle the journey from the meeting point to the estate so you arrive relaxed and ready for the ride.
First-timers are welcome and no riding experience is required. Guests from age six can join with adult supervision throughout, and long trousers with closed shoes are recommended for comfort in the saddle.
Couples, friends and families looking for an authentic Campanian evening suit this format well. Dietary requirements are worth sharing when you book so we can do our best to prepare alternatives for the BBQ.
Ride and dinner in one booking give you a full evening without planning separate restaurants and stables. One to six guests at most keeps the trail intimate and the dinner table sociable rather than crowded.
Guides who work with these horses every day know how to settle nervous first-time riders before the trail opens up above the bay. Riding at dusk through volcanic countryside and finishing with grilled local food and wine under the stars is the memory most guests take home.
