Spend 12 nights diving two of the Philippines’ best-known regions in one trip: the shark-rich offshore sites of Malapascua and the reef and sardine action of Moalboal. You’ll start with dawn dives at Kimud Shoal and Monad Shoal looking for thresher sharks, tiger sharks and other pelagic visitors, before moving on to walls, reefs and the famous sardine bait ball off the Cebu coastline.
Accommodation at both bases is comfortable and set up for divers, with short walks to the dive centres, on-site kit storage and easy access to boats and house reefs. Transfers between Cebu, the first island base and the second coastal resort are arranged for you, so once you reach Cebu the schedule is handled end to end. This format suits divers who want a lot of time in the water, variation in sites and the chance to see both big animals and macro life in one itinerary.
This 12-night Philippines dive holiday starts and ends in Cebu and combines two complementary bases: an offshore island focused on dawn thresher shark dives, tiger shark and pelagic encounters plus rich macro, followed by a coastal resort in Moalboal with walls, a permanent sardine bait ball, turtles and a deep house reef. You’ll spend six nights at each resort with five dive days in each location (20 scheduled dives), plus a Gato Island day trip and the option to add extra boat or house reef dives. All transfers between Cebu, the first resort and the second resort are arranged for you, so once you land in Cebu the diving, accommodation and logistics are handled end to end.
This itinerary has been built by divers who have spent significant time in the Philippines and understand how to link regions efficiently while keeping the focus on what matters most: high-quality, safe diving. The two-resort format is not simply about adding nights, but about combining two complementary locations into one coherent plan, with all key transfers and timings looked after on your behalf. You receive clear information in advance, structured support on the ground and a schedule designed around realistic travel and dive planning.
Both bases are long-established, diver-focused operations that have been chosen specifically for their approach to safety, environmental awareness and guest support. The organising team prioritise honest advice about conditions, dive profiles and local requirements, so you know what to expect before you book. The goal is to give you access to thresher sharks, pelagics, macro, sardines and rich reef life in one extended trip, with reliable logistics and a supportive community of fellow divers around you.
All guests fly into Mactan Cebu International Airport. From there, transfers are arranged to the first overnight stay in Cebu and onward to the island base the following morning. The journey north to the departure port takes around three hours by road, followed by a 45-minute boat ride to the island.
At the midway point of the trip, overland transfers connect the first base back to Cebu and then continue south-west to the Moalboal peninsula. At the end of the trip, transfers return you to Cebu for your international flight. Once you arrive in Cebu, the internal logistics are handled for you according to the outlined schedule.

At the first location, air-conditioned chalets are built to modern standards with comfortable beds, split bathroom layouts and private terraces. Rooms are within easy walking distance of the beach and dive centre, with sand from the door to the water. Facilities typically include hot water showers, TV with media options, minibar, complimentary tea and coffee, and secure storage.

At the second location, individual bungalows sit within tropical gardens overlooking the sea. Rooms can be configured as twin or double, with the option to add a third bed in some units. All bungalows feature air-conditioning, ceiling fans, private bathrooms with hot showers, hairdryers, safety deposit boxes, minibars and private balconies with seating. Shared facilities include a pool, dedicated dive centre, drying areas and complimentary services such as pool towels and drinking water.
Open Water divers can enjoy many of the sites, especially reef dives and house reefs, but some deeper or current-affected areas are better suited to those with Advanced certification or equivalent. Pelagic-focused shoals and certain walls may involve slightly deeper profiles, and the team will adjust site selection based on conditions and diver experience.
If you are not yet Advanced, this trip can be a good opportunity to work towards that level, but any training should be arranged in advance with the relevant centre. In all cases, divers should have recent experience before arrival to ensure comfortable buoyancy and gas management across multiple dives.
The core package includes 10 dives at the first resort and 10 dives at the second, giving a total of 20 scheduled dives plus one night dive at the first base and a two-dive Gato day trip. This is a substantial amount of diving across 12 nights and is suitable for most divers’ energy levels over that period.
An unlimited diving add-on is available at the second resort for those wanting extra afternoon or house reef dives. Night and mandarin dives can also be added locally, subject to conditions and availability. These extras allow keen divers to increase their logbook count while still keeping the schedule manageable.
At the first location, the highlight is early-morning thresher shark encounters at Kimud Shoal, along with the possibility of tiger sharks and other pelagics at Monad Shoal. Additional pelagic visitors can include mantas, eagle rays, devil rays and occasional whale sharks. Local reefs provide excellent macro life with frogfish, seahorses, nudibranchs, octopus and crustaceans.
The second location offers very different, but equally rich, experiences. The sardine bait ball near the wall is a constant feature, with predators occasionally sweeping through the school. Sites such as Pescador Island add wall diving, caverns and strong coral cover. Turtles, frogfish, pygmy seahorses, reef fishes and plentiful macro subjects are common across the area.
Conditions around the shoals can include moderate current and deeper profiles when waiting for pelagics. Visibility is usually good, but divers should be prepared for early starts and the need to follow briefings closely. Reefs around the island base offer more sheltered options if conditions on the shoals are not suitable.
At the second base, many dives are straightforward wall or reef dives, but some can involve currents and boat entries in choppy water. The house reef is accessible and manageable for a broad range of abilities. Guides will always choose sites that fit the group’s experience and the conditions on the day.
All major transfers are included once you arrive in Cebu. This covers transport from Cebu to the first resort, between the two resorts, and back to Cebu at the end of the trip. Border crossings are not involved as the entire trip is within the Philippines.
Transfer timings are arranged to minimise wasted time and reduce stress around check-in and check-out. The organising team coordinate with both resorts to ensure a smooth handover of schedules, so you have clear information on when you are travelling and when you are diving.
In addition to the package, you’ll need to factor in international flights, marine park fees at both locations, any nitrox and equipment rental, and personal spending on drinks and additional activities. Night dives beyond those included, mandarin dives and canyoneering or land tours are charged locally.
Food at the first base includes breakfast only, so lunches and dinners there are extra. At the second base, half board covers breakfast and dinner but not lunch. It is sensible to allow for restaurant meals, snacks, tips and any souvenirs you might wish to purchase.
Both resorts offer comfortable, diver-oriented accommodation, but with slightly different layouts and atmospheres. The first has modern chalets close to a sandy beach, with rooms built to western standards that include air-conditioning, split bathrooms and private terraces.
The second has individual bungalows in a garden setting above the rocky coastline, each with private balconies and views towards the sea or gardens. Both provide hot showers, air-conditioning, storage and amenities such as safety boxes and minibars, making them practical bases for an extended dive trip.
Yes. The first location offers early-morning pelagic encounters, colourful reefs and macro opportunities, making it ideal for both wide-angle and close-up work. The second location adds the sardine bait ball, house reef and walls, which provide strong wide-angle scenes and consistent turtle and macro possibilities.
Both dive centres are equipped to handle camera setups, with dedicated rinse tanks and space for kit preparation. The variety of subjects over two weeks allows photographers to refine their approach across many different conditions and scenes.
Guides at both locations are used to working with mixed-experience groups and can adapt routes, depths and pace as needed. Check dives and initial reef dives give the team a chance to assess comfort and skills. If a diver is not comfortable with a particular site, alternatives can usually be arranged.
Less experienced divers are encouraged to communicate clearly about their limits and any concerns. The schedule allows for repeated dives on familiar sites if desired, which can help build confidence progressively rather than rushing to tick off everything in one day.
A good preparation plan includes logging a few dives in the months before travel, checking that all equipment is serviced and in working order, and ensuring travel and dive insurance are valid. Reading up on local marine life and reviewing your camera or dive computer settings can also help you make the most of your time in the water.
It is also wise to arrive with a reasonable level of general fitness, as the schedule includes multiple early starts and up to four dives a day if you choose add-ons. Being well rested and organised will make the experience smoother and more enjoyable from the first transfer onwards.
