Ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater? This relaxed try-dive is your chance to explore Bonaire's colourful reefs without any prior certification. Your instructor walks you through the basics on land, then guides you into shallow water before a gentle reef dive in warm, crystal-clear Caribbean water.
You'll start with a relaxed briefing on land covering how your gear works, what to expect underwater and how to move and breathe comfortably. Then you head into the shallows for your first underwater steps, practising simple skills with your instructor right beside you.
Once you feel settled, your guide takes you on a reef dive along one of Bonaire's calm, vibrant sites. Expect colourful fish, coral formations and that weightless feeling of floating in warm water. A second dive is available if you want more time beneath the surface, and many first-timers choose this once they have found their rhythm in the water.
Sessions run from shore sites around Kralendijk within Bonaire's protected marine park. The island is famous for easy shore access, calm conditions and healthy reef life, making it one of the Caribbean's best places for a first underwater experience.
Pickup anywhere in Kralendijk keeps getting started simple, and your guide selects a site suited to beginners on the day. You enter from the beach in clear, sheltered water rather than from a crowded boat deck.
No certification or previous diving experience is needed. You should feel comfortable in the water and be able to complete basic movements such as staying afloat and moving short distances.
Bring swimwear and a towel. Anyone with recent medical conditions may need a doctor's clearance before diving.
Small groups, patient instruction and well-maintained equipment keep the session relaxed and safe. Your guide focuses on comfort and confidence so you can enjoy the reef at an unhurried pace rather than rushing through a checklist.
Respect for the marine park runs through every session, with clear briefings and kit included so you can simply turn up ready to try something new. Many guests use this as a stepping stone towards full certification later.
No previous diving experience or certification is required. This session is designed as a first introduction to breathing underwater with full instructor support throughout.
Your guide handles equipment setup, skills practice and the reef dive, pacing everything to your comfort level.
Bring swimwear, a towel and reef-safe sunscreen. Comfortable clothing for before and after the session is helpful, along with a dry set of clothes if you prefer.
All diving equipment is provided. If you wear contact lenses or need prescription lenses in a mask, mention this when booking.
Basic water confidence is important. You should feel comfortable staying afloat and moving short distances in the water without assistance.
Your instructor stays close throughout and the session begins in very shallow water before progressing to the reef dive.

Second dive pricing and availability are shown when you select your date through the booking calendar.
Safety always comes first. If sea conditions are not suitable for diving, the session will be rescheduled or refunded according to the cancellation policy.
Your guide monitors conditions closely and will communicate any changes as early as possible.
Yes, all scuba equipment needed for the session is included. This covers your mask, fins, wetsuit where needed, BCD, regulator and tanks.
Equipment is checked and fitted before you enter the water so everything sits comfortably.
Most healthy participants do not need a medical certificate. However, certain medical conditions require a doctor's signed clearance before diving.
If you are unsure, complete a medical questionnaire honestly and your instructor will advise before the session begins.
Many participants use this experience as a first step before enrolling in a PADI Open Water course. Your instructor can explain suitable next steps based on your comfort and interest.
Skills you practise here, such as breathing control and buoyancy awareness, transfer directly into full certification training.
