Trying scuba diving for the first time is easier than many people expect, and Tenerife provides an excellent environment to learn. With professional instruction, quality equipment and access to marine-rich dive sites, this experience offers a safe and enjoyable introduction to the underwater world.
Your experience begins with around 30 minutes of training delivered in a language you understand. Depending on the programme, this may include a briefing, instructional video or a combination of both. During this session, you'll learn how the equipment works, how to communicate underwater and what to expect during your dive. The team takes their time with preparation and never rushes the process, allowing you to build confidence before entering the water.
After getting fitted with your scuba equipment, you'll head to your chosen dive site. Beach dives take place in a bay known for its volcanic reef and varied marine life. The shallow waters provide an ideal environment for beginners, with opportunities to spot rays, turtles, octopus, moray eels, crabs, cuttlefish and numerous species of fish. The dive centre is located directly beside the entry point, making access to the water straightforward and comfortable.
Those choosing the boat option will meet near Puerto Colón before travelling to one of the nearby dive sites by boat. After a short journey, you'll enter the Atlantic to explore underwater volcanic formations and marine habitats that make Tenerife a popular diving destination. Throughout the dive, you'll remain under the direct supervision of a qualified instructor.
If you select the Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) programme, you'll receive additional theory training before your visit through PADI e-learning materials. During the session, you'll practise a few basic diving skills underwater and complete the first step towards the PADI Open Water Diver course. Upon completion, you'll receive a diploma and temporary recognition allowing further introductory dives under professional supervision.
Activities take place in the South of Tenerife, an area renowned for its year-round diving conditions, clear Atlantic waters and diverse marine ecosystems. The coastline combines volcanic landscapes with sheltered bays, creating excellent environments for beginner divers.
Beach dives are conducted from a marine-rich bay close to Los Cristianos, while boat dives depart from Puerto Colón. Both locations provide access to underwater volcanic reefs and an impressive variety of marine species, making them ideal for those experiencing scuba diving for the first time.
No previous diving experience is required. This activity has been specifically designed for complete beginners and first-time divers.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and in generally good health. Diving is not recommended during pregnancy, and some medical conditions may require approval from a doctor before participation.
The team has been introducing visitors to scuba diving in the Canary Islands since 2013, combining professional instruction with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Their multilingual instructors focus on helping participants feel comfortable and confident from the moment they arrive.
Unlike many introductory diving experiences, training is never rushed, allowing plenty of time for preparation and questions. The combination of accessible dive sites, experienced instructors and excellent marine life makes this a memorable first step into scuba diving.
