Take to the skies and experience Crete from a completely different perspective with a guided tandem flight. With an experienced pilot handling everything, you can sit back and enjoy the sensation of flying while taking in the island from above. It’s a relaxed yet memorable way to see the landscape, whether it’s your first time or something you’ve always wanted to try.
Your experience begins at the agreed meeting point, where you’ll meet your pilot and go through a short safety briefing. Everything will be explained clearly, from how the take-off works to what you can expect during the flight. You’ll be fitted with a helmet and harness, and your instructor will make sure you feel comfortable before heading to the launch spot.
Take-off is simple and smooth, usually involving a short run before you’re gently lifted into the air. Once airborne, you’ll settle into the harness as your pilot guides you along the coastline and surrounding landscapes. The flight itself is calm and controlled, giving you time to take in the views, spot landmarks below, and enjoy the feeling of gliding through open air.
As the flight comes to an end, your pilot will guide you into a steady landing back on the ground. Afterward, you’ll have time to take it all in, ask any questions, and reflect on the experience. There’s also the option to capture your flight on video if you’d like something to look back on.
Flights take place in the Chania region of Crete, an area known for its varied landscape and open flying conditions. From above, you’ll see a mix of coastline, hills and local villages, offering a wide view of this part of the island. The take-off points are chosen based on weather conditions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable flight.
The surrounding area is easily accessible and popular with visitors, making it a convenient addition to your time in Crete. Whether you’re staying nearby or travelling in for the experience, the location offers a great setting both in the air and on the ground.
Participants should be comfortable with light physical movement, as take-off usually involves a short run to get airborne. No previous experience is needed, and the pilot will guide you through each step to make the process straightforward.
A minimum age applies, and younger participants must be able to follow instructions clearly. Weather conditions can affect scheduling, so some flexibility is helpful to ensure the best possible flight experience on the day.
The experience is led by George, a highly qualified and certified instructor with over two decades of flying experience. Holding multiple international licences across paragliding, paramotoring and paratrike instruction, along with competition achievements, every flight is conducted with a strong focus on safety and professionalism.
With training and flight experience across Europe, combined with recognised instructor certifications and ongoing development, the approach is centred on clear communication and careful preparation. Each flight is tailored to the individual, ensuring you feel confident, informed and able to enjoy every moment in the air.
No previous experience is required at all, which makes this activity suitable for complete beginners. The entire flight is done in tandem with a fully qualified pilot who controls the equipment and makes all flight decisions. Your role is simply to follow basic instructions during take-off and landing.
Before the flight, everything will be explained clearly in a short briefing so you know exactly what to expect. Even if you feel unsure at first, most people find the process straightforward once they understand how it works, and the pilot will guide you through each step to keep things relaxed and manageable.
Take-off is usually a gentle and controlled process that involves a short run forward while the wing inflates behind you. As the parachute lifts, you’ll feel yourself gradually rise off the ground, rather than any sudden drop or jump. The pilot manages timing and positioning to keep everything smooth.
Landing is just as controlled, with the pilot guiding you back down at a steady pace. You may be asked to lift your legs slightly or take a few small steps on landing, depending on conditions. Clear instructions are given at the right moment so you know exactly what to do.
Safety is a top priority, and all flights are carried out by highly trained and certified pilots using well-maintained equipment. Weather conditions are carefully assessed before each flight, and if conditions are not suitable, the session will be delayed or rescheduled.
In addition, pilots follow strict safety procedures before, during and after the flight. You’ll receive a full safety briefing, and all equipment such as helmets and harnesses are checked thoroughly to ensure everything is secure before take-off.
Comfortable clothing is recommended, ideally something you would wear for light outdoor activity. Trainers or secure footwear with good grip are important, as you’ll need to take a short run during take-off and possibly a few steps when landing.
Depending on the time of year, bringing a light jacket can be useful as it may feel cooler in the air. Sunglasses can also help with visibility, especially on bright days, but should be secured so they don’t fall off during the flight.
The flight itself lasts around 20 minutes, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the views and the sensation of flying. However, you should allow extra time overall for preparation, briefing and waiting for the right conditions.
Factors such as wind direction and strength can influence timing on the day, so there may be short waiting periods before take-off. This ensures that your flight takes place under the best and safest possible conditions.
You are generally advised not to bring loose personal items such as phones or cameras during the flight unless they are securely attached. There is always a risk of dropping them while in the air, which could damage your belongings or pose a safety concern.
Instead, an optional video service may be available to capture your experience safely. This allows you to fully enjoy the flight without worrying about holding onto your device, while still having something to look back on afterwards.
