Glide along the south coast of Gran Canaria on a guided stand-up paddle tour from Arguineguín, where calm mornings and warm Atlantic water make exploring by board feel relaxed rather than rushed. Over about two hours you follow your coach past cliffs and open bays, with pacing that suits mixed abilities and time to enjoy the views.
The tour starts with a beach briefing at Las Marañuelas, including kit handout, leash fitting, and time to kneel or stand on wide inflatable boards before you leave shore. Once everyone is comfortable, the group paddles along sheltered water with the guide leading the route and offering tips on posture and steering without pushing you beyond your confidence.
Photo stops and short rests are built in when the sea is kind, and GoPro shots are taken when it is safe to do so. If wind picks up, the launch may move to an alternate spot nearby that still suits the group. Arrive about 15 minutes early, bring swimwear and water, and share t-shirt size, health notes, and weight when you book so boards suit riders up to 120 kg.
Las Marañuelas puts you straight onto sheltered Atlantic water on Gran Canaria's south coast, with easy access from resorts around Maspalomas and Puerto Rico. Paddling here means open sea and cliff views without a long transfer, and the climate lets you tour in swimwear for much of the year.
On breezier mornings the group may launch from a second meeting point on the same coastline that keeps conditions manageable. You still explore Atlantic water, but the emphasis stays on enjoyable coastal exploration rather than surf breaks.
Basic balance helps, but many guests join with little or no paddleboarding experience as long as you are happy near the sea. Children from age eight can take part when an adult stays responsible for them on the water, and you can request a life jacket when you book.
Tell us about any health concerns, injuries, or weight over 120 kg when you book so the right board and buoyancy aid can be prepared. Glasses do not float, so consider contact lenses or a strap if you are likely to fall in.
Local guides hold certified SUP, yoga, and fitness qualifications plus first-aid cover, so briefings feel thorough without being intimidating. Boards are chosen for stability on tour days, and groups are kept small enough that you get individual pointers on paddle stroke and route safety rather than being left at the back alone.
Board, paddle, rash guard, and insurance are covered for the tour, with optional life jackets on request, so you can focus on the coastline. Many guests try a lesson first, then book a tour once they trust their balance on flat water.
You meet at Las Marañuelas for introductions, leash and paddle fitting, and a safety talk covering how to carry the board, fall safely away from the fin, and stay with the group on the water. Kit is adjusted to your height and any life jacket request.
On calm water you practise kneeling and standing, then follow your guide along the Arguineguín shoreline with coaching on efficient strokes and gentle turns. The route stays inside manageable conditions while everyone finds a comfortable pace.
When conditions allow, the group pauses for GoPro photos and a moment to enjoy the Atlantic views before paddling back to the beach. On the sand you hand kit back and hear any tips for your next session on the island.
Not necessarily. The tour suits taster-level paddlers as well as those who have stood on a board before, with wide boards and a guide who adjusts pace to the group. You can kneel for sections if standing feels too much on the day.
If you have never paddled, mention it when you book so the briefing can include extra practice time before the group moves along the coast.
Swimwear, a towel, and drinking water are all you need, plus reef-safe sunscreen applied before you arrive so hands are not slippery on the paddle. A rash guard is provided, and you can request a life jacket when you book.
Bring a change of clothes for afterwards, and mention your t-shirt size in checkout questions so kit is ready at the beach.
Children from age eight are welcome when an adult stays responsible for them on the water. Younger paddlers often kneel on the board with a parent rather than standing alone for the full route.
Share ages when you book so the guide can plan board sizes and buoyancy aids for the group.
Sessions usually start at Playa de Las Marañuelas in Arguineguín, with the map pin sent in your confirmation. Arrive about 15 minutes before the start time so the briefing can begin on schedule.
If wind makes the main beach unsuitable, your guide will direct you to the alternate launch point nearby.
Safety comes first. If sea or wind conditions are unsafe before the tour starts, you will be offered a new date or a full refund according to the published cancellation terms.
If conditions change after the activity has begun, the provider may continue with a voucher to rebook within one year rather than a cash refund, as set out in their conditions.
Yes. Board, paddle, leash, and rash guard are included, along with guide time and insurance. Life jackets and waterproof bags are available if you ask when booking.
You do not need your own board unless you want a discount for bringing one, which you can arrange directly before the session.
Inflatable boards are rated up to 120 kg following manufacturer guidance. Tell us your weight in the booking questions so the correct board is reserved for the tour.
If you are close to the limit, the guide may suggest a wider board for extra stability on the coastal route.
Distance depends on wind, swell, and how the group feels on the day, but the focus is a relaxed coastal loop rather than a hard fitness push. Your guide chooses a route that keeps everyone together and near sheltered water when possible.
Strong paddlers still get moments to explore a little further while the group waits at agreed rest points.
GoPro photos are taken during the tour when conditions allow, giving you memories of the coastline from the water. They are included in the session price.
If cameras cannot be used safely because of spray or wind, your guide will let you know at the beach.
Up to twelve people can be booked on the tour, though many sessions run smaller for a personal feel. Private arrangements are possible if you contact the team with your dates.
A single person can still book and join an existing slot when available, with a minimum of one participant to run.

You'll find calm Atlantic water and year-round sunshine on the south coast of Gran Canaria, where stand-up paddleboarding sits alongside yoga and fitness on the board. Sessions are built for beginners as much as regular paddlers: stable boards, clear briefings, and small groups so you can stand up, breathe, and enjoy the coastline without rushing.
Your instructor brings certified coaching in SUP, SUP yoga, and SUP fitness, with first-aid training and a focus on how you feel on the water as much as technique. Whether you want a first lesson, a guided tour, a yoga flow on the board, or a hire to explore at your own pace, the aim is the same: time on the sea that leaves you balanced, confident, and connected to the moment.
