Golden hour on the water is an easy way to mark a birthday, anniversary or long summer evening with your own crew and your own playlist. From Mahón's pontoons you slip out on a private llaut as the sky turns soft, with no shared seating plan and no rush back before the light fades.
Your evening begins at the berth with a quick safety briefing and time to stow drinks or a picnic before lines are cast off. The captain reads the forecast and either works within the shelter of the port or heads toward a nearby cove if conditions allow a swim while the air is still warm.
On deck there is space to unwind as the sun drops, with masks and paddle boards available when the crew are satisfied it is safe to use them. We aim to be back alongside before it is fully dark, and your confirmation sets out meet and return times so you can book a table ashore if you want to.
Evening departures from Moll de Llevant put you straight into Mahón's wide harbour, with north-shore inlets close by and open water beyond the breakwaters when the sea is kind. Summer evenings can be busy around the marina, so allow a little extra time to park and walk to the boat.
Sunset runs are planned for comfort first: the crew hold positions that stay out of the worst of the breeze while still giving you an open view westward. Plans change if the wind pipes up, switching to a safer berth rather than an uncomfortable ride.
The crew takes the helm, so you can simply enjoy the ride without prior boating experience. Comfort on deck matters, as does being willing to climb in and out of the water if you fancy a short swim before the light goes.
Let us know your party size, ages and any access needs when you request a date so we allocate a suitable llaut and jacket sizes. Licensed capacity varies slightly by hull, and we cannot take more guests than the boat is certificated for.
Short evening charters depend on local knowledge, and our captains sail from Mahón week in, week out, so they know where the harbour stays pleasant on a breezy July night. You get the same traditional llauts, clean decks and on-board kit as on a full-day hire, scaled down to a focused sunset window.
Keeping the boat private means the evening revolves around your group, whether that is quiet conversation, a celebratory drink or a first swim of the holiday. Bring your own food if you like, spread out on the solarium, and leave the navigation to us.
Meet at Moll de Llevant, board your assigned llaut and stow any picnic bags while the captain runs through safety and the evening plan.
Guest counts are checked against the licence limit for your boat before departure.
Cruise toward a sheltered anchorage or stay within the harbour depending on the wind. Pause for a swim or paddle when the sea is calm and the light is still warm.
Your captain positions the boat for a clear view as the sun drops toward the horizon.
Return to Mahón after sunset with the crew's help at the pontoon. Collect personal items from deck storage before you leave the marina.
Your confirmation notes the expected return time so you can plan the rest of your evening ashore.
Up to twelve guests can sail together on the larger llauts, or eleven on the mid-size hull when that is the boat assigned. The price is for the whole group, not per person.
Send your exact number when you request an evening so life jackets and the correct boat are reserved before you arrive at the pontoon.
Expect about three hours from the scheduled 19:00 departure, enough time to ease out of the harbour, find a calm spot and watch the light fade before you return alongside. Exact return time is confirmed when your booking is approved.
Seasonal sunset shifts through the year, but the slot stays an evening charter rather than a late-night party boat.
Availability decides which of our three llauts you sail on, based on size and maintenance on the day. Each is a crewed traditional boat with paddle and snorkel gear on board.
Happy to note a preference in your request, and we will tell you honestly if that hull is already booked for your evening.
Golden-hour timing is the focus, with the captain positioning the boat where the group can see the sky open toward the west when weather allows. Some evenings stay inside the shelter of the port; others reach a nearby cove for a swim while the air is still warm.
Every route is judged on the day. The crew would rather adjust the plan than sit in an uncomfortable chop for the sake of a photo.
The charter covers your private boat, paddle boards, snorkel equipment and tableware for food or drinks you bring.
Skipper and fuel are separate lines at checkout for sunset trips. Restaurant delivery to the marina can be organised in advance if you want nibbles on board.
Boarding is at Moll de Llevant, Mahón. Confirmation email lists the pontoon so you can find the crew among the evening activity in the port.
Summer evenings are busy around the marina, so allow time to park and walk. Phone us from the booking details if traffic delays you.
Families are welcome with adults supervising children on deck and in the water. Jackets are supplied and safety is covered before departure.
Share ages with your request so the evening route and jacket sizes suit your group. Swim stops depend on calm water and daylight before return.
Overcast skies can dull the colours, but many groups still enjoy a private evening afloat with drinks and conversation on deck. If it is unsafe to leave the harbour, we reschedule within your holiday.
Partial cloud sometimes gives the most dramatic skies. The captain keeps an eye on wind and light so you are back in good time.
Pack a picnic, aperitifs or soft drinks if you like. There is no bar service on board, but glasses and plates are ready in the galley.
Local restaurants can deliver to the boat with advance notice. Ask when you confirm and we will share contacts that deliver to the pontoons.
No prior sailing knowledge is required. The professional crew manages the boat while you relax with your group.
Wear comfortable clothes and non-marking shoes. Tell us about mobility needs when booking so boarding at the pontoon is straightforward for everyone.

About the centre
Mahón
From Mahón harbour we run private charters on traditional Menorcan llauts, with skippers who know the island's coves and the rhythm of the port. Friends, families and small groups come to us for swim stops, snorkelling, paddle boarding and unhurried time on deck while the east coast opens up beyond the breakwater.
Three boats in the fleet cover different group sizes and deck space, from compact day hires to longer sails and short sunrise or sunset slots. Snorkel and paddle kit is ready on board, picnics are welcome in the galley, and we shape each trip around the weather and what your group wants from the day.
