A sightseeing bike tour offers a great way to experience Glasgow at a relaxed pace without missing out on key landmarks. With a mix of well-known sights and less obvious local gems, this guided ride takes you through the city’s history, architecture, and green spaces in just over two hours.
Your tour begins at Drygate, one of Glasgow’s leading microbreweries, where you'll meet your guide and get set up with your bike. After a short safety briefing, you’ll head off through Glasgow Green and down towards the River Clyde. From there, the group follows purpose-built cycle routes along the riverfront, where you’ll see a blend of the city’s industrial past and its evolving modern skyline. Expect a mix of riding and short stops to take in the architecture and learn from your guide – with stories covering everything from the city’s shipbuilding heritage to its artistic and political culture.
The route continues into the heart of Glasgow’s West End, taking in Kelvingrove Park, the grand Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and the historic University of Glasgow. As the tour loops back towards the city centre, you’ll cycle a section of the Forth and Clyde Canal before reaching the impressive Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis. The final stretch returns to Drygate where you can stick around for a drink or food if you choose. A small treat is included mid-tour, so you won’t go hungry on the ride.
Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city and known for its strong mix of cultural institutions, modern design, and historical landmarks. The cycling infrastructure is well-developed, with riverside routes, canal paths, and dedicated cycle lanes connecting different areas of the city.
The tour departs from Drygate, a short walk from the Cathedral and Glasgow Green. This area has convenient transport links, parking options, and a good selection of cafés and restaurants if you're arriving early or staying afterwards.
You should be confident riding a bike in a group and comfortable cycling for around two and a half hours, including short breaks. The route is mostly flat and uses traffic-free paths, so it’s suitable for most fitness levels.
Participants must be aged 10 or above, and children should be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own if preferred. Please check the weather and bring layers or a waterproof, just in case.
The team behind these tours are passionate about showing Glasgow through a local lens, combining insight with good humour and a relaxed pace. The guides have an excellent knowledge of the city and its ever-changing character, offering more than just facts and figures.
