Cala Romantica, East Mallorca
Operated by Experience Mallorca, a partner of adventuro.

A rare natural sea cave awaits on Mallorca’s east coast, offering a guided adventure that blends coastal walking, swimming, and underground exploration. The highlight is a crystal-clear cave filled with colourful stalagmites, accessible via a short swim through a water entrance.
Your day begins with a scenic 40-minute walk along the cliffs above Cala Romàntica, providing expansive views of the eastern coastline. On reaching the beach, you’ll change into wetsuits, put on provided water shoes, and swim approximately 300 metres to the cave entrance. A short duck under the water leads you into the cave’s interior.
Inside, you’ll navigate a network of large, cathedral-like chambers and underground pools illuminated by headlamps. The striking red stalagmites reflect mineral deposits influenced by the sea, and your guide will explain the geology and history of the cave. Around an hour is spent exploring this natural formation.
If sea conditions prevent access, the guide will lead you to two alternative caves nearby, one with water features, ensuring a memorable day. After the exploration, swim back to the beach and return along the coastal path.
The tour is based at Cala Romàntica, home to one of the finest beaches on Mallorca. Its calm, clear waters and golden sand make it ideal for relaxing after the cave adventure. Visitors can spend time unwinding on the beach or taking in the dramatic coastline.
The area is also known for its seafood restaurants, offering freshly caught fish and other local dishes with views over the coast. This combination of adventure and leisure makes Cala Romàntica a perfect location for a full day of exploration and relaxation.
No previous experience in caving or swimming in open water is required. Participants should be reasonably fit for a 40-minute walk over uneven ground and a 300-metre swim. Wetsuits, water shoes, and safety equipment are provided, with guides closely monitoring conditions.
The tour is suitable for beginners, families, and couples looking for a safe and enjoyable outdoor adventure. The combination of walking, swimming, and cave exploration ensures participants can challenge themselves while feeling supported throughout the experience.
The guides have extensive knowledge of Mallorca’s natural environments and caves, providing both safety and insight during the tour. Their experience ensures the day is enjoyable for all ages and abilities.
Accredited by international tour operators, the team prioritises health and safety while offering well-organised experiences. Friendly guidance and careful planning mean participants can focus on the adventure while discovering the island’s hidden coastal gems.
Participants should be reasonably fit to manage a 40-minute walk over uneven coastal terrain and a 300-metre swim in open water. The walk includes some rocky paths and uneven surfaces, so sturdy footwear is essential.
Swimming in the sea requires basic confidence in open water and the ability to handle currents safely. The guides provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids, but a minimum level of fitness helps you enjoy the experience without fatigue.
No prior caving or swimming experience is required. The tour is designed for beginners and families, with clear instructions and close supervision throughout. All participants receive safety briefings and support at every stage.
The swim under the water to enter the cave is brief and only requires a quick duck dive, making it accessible to most swimmers. Those who feel uncomfortable can opt out of this step, and guides will adjust the experience accordingly.
You should bring trainers that fully cover your feet for the coastal walk, as well as swimwear to wear under the wetsuit. A towel and dry clothes for after the tour are also recommended.
It’s a good idea to bring sunscreen, a water bottle, and any personal medications you might need. Avoid bringing valuables or electronic devices unless they are waterproof and securely stored.
The minimum age for this tour is 12 years old. Younger participants must be confident swimmers and able to keep up with the group during the walk and swim sections.
This makes the tour suitable for families with older children, couples, and groups of friends. The guides adapt the pace and challenges to suit the ages and abilities of everyone taking part.
If the sea or weather conditions are deemed unsafe, the guides will alter the itinerary to visit two alternative caves nearby, one of which includes water features. This ensures the adventure remains exciting and safe.
Participants will be notified as soon as possible if any changes are made. The safety of the group is the top priority, and decisions are made with this in mind.
The swim to the cave entrance is approximately 300 metres across open sea. It is a relatively short swim but does require participants to be confident in the water.
Buoyancy aids and wetsuits help with flotation and thermal protection. The swim is done at a steady pace, with guides supporting the group closely.
