Step into one of Mallorca’s most extraordinary caves and experience the thrill of exploring Sa Campana, home to the largest underground chamber on the island. With rope descents, giant rock formations, and vast chambers that could house Mallorca’s cathedral, this adventure is ideal for those looking for something truly memorable.
Your day begins at the meeting point where you’ll be equipped with a backpack containing your helmet, lighting, and vertical progression gear. After a briefing, the group will walk just under a kilometre with a steady 110-meter climb, taking around 45 minutes to reach the cave entrance. This warm-up prepares you for the main event while enjoying the scenic mountain surroundings.
At the cave entrance, your guides will explain how to use the equipment safely before beginning the 20-metre abseil. With the security of auxiliary ropes, each participant is supported as they descend into the depths. Once inside, the group explores several chambers filled with towering formations, moving steadily through passages until reaching the impressive Giants Hall — a vast space of 10,000m² that stretches 320,000m³ in volume.
Throughout the visit, guides share fascinating insights into the geology and history of Sa Campana, adding depth to the experience. Photos and videos are taken during the session, with three complimentary images included for each group and an option to purchase the full collection afterwards. After completing the activity, many visitors take the opportunity to explore the nearby Sa Calobra area, a highlight of Mallorca’s rugged landscape.
Sa Campana Cave is located in Escorca, in the heart of Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This region is renowned for its dramatic peaks, limestone cliffs, and hidden valleys, offering a spectacular natural setting for caving.
The meeting point is at the Sa Campana Cave car park, easily accessed via the Ma-2141 road. From here, participants begin their approach walk to the cave, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery before venturing underground.
This activity requires a good level of physical fitness, as it includes a walk with a 110-metre ascent, a rope descent, and several hours of underground exploration. Previous caving or climbing experience is not essential, but confidence with heights and a willingness to take on physical challenges will make the experience more enjoyable.
Suitable sports clothing, sturdy footwear, and enough food and water for the day are required to ensure comfort and safety throughout the activity.
The guides leading this session are highly experienced and passionate about Mallorca’s underground world, having dedicated years to exploring and sharing the island’s most remarkable caves. Their focus on small groups ensures personalised support, making the experience both safe and engaging.
With high-quality equipment, expert instruction, and professional photography included, this activity is designed to give participants the confidence to explore safely while creating lasting memories. Sa Campana is one of Mallorca’s most impressive caves, and joining a guided session is the best way to experience it in full.
