Step away from the climbing wall and experience the excitement of climbing and abseiling in a real outdoor environment. Whether you're completely new to the sport or looking to build on previous experience, these guided sessions offer the perfect introduction to climbing on natural rock in some of northern England's most popular outdoor locations.
Your session begins with a welcome briefing and equipment fitting before heading to one of several carefully selected climbing venues. After learning the fundamentals of climbing safety, movement and communication, you'll start tackling routes suited to your ability level under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
As confidence grows, you'll have the opportunity to try a variety of climbs, learning techniques for balance, foot placement and efficient movement on the rock. Beginners can focus on building confidence, while those with previous experience can develop their skills further in an outdoor setting.
Alongside climbing, you'll also experience abseiling. After receiving instruction on the equipment and techniques involved, you'll descend safely down the rock face while enjoying a completely different perspective of the venue. The combination of climbing up and abseiling down provides a varied and rewarding outdoor adventure.
Sessions take place across a variety of venues throughout the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and surrounding areas. Popular locations include Hodge Close, Tilberthwaite, Langdale, Bowder Stone Quarry, Headend Quarry, Twistleton, Storrs Quarry and Denham Quarry.
Each venue offers its own character, from traditional Lakeland crags and former quarries to limestone cliffs and scenic climbing areas. This flexibility allows instructors to select the most suitable venue based on experience levels, weather conditions and group requirements.
No previous climbing experience is required. Sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have climbed indoors or outdoors before.
Participants should be comfortable taking part in physical activity and spending time outdoors. Instruction is tailored to individual ability levels throughout the session.
Natural rock climbing offers a completely different experience to indoor climbing, allowing participants to learn skills while exploring some of the region's best outdoor venues. Every session is designed to build confidence, encourage progression and create an enjoyable experience for all abilities.
Supported by experienced local instructors and led by Innes' vision for accessible outdoor adventure, the team uses their extensive knowledge of local climbing venues to provide sessions that make the most of both the location and conditions on the day.
