Two classic Jamaican adventures share one north coast day: white water fun on the Rio Bueno followed by a guided horseback ride through Braco Estate to the sea. You paddle or float through rapids and pools, then saddle up for trails, island history and optional swimming with your horse on the beach.
Morning collection takes you to the Rio Bueno valley where guides brief you on safety and equipment. The river run mixes exciting rapids with scenic pools, finishing near a beach where you can relax before the next leg of the day. Life jackets and a guided line keep the session safe for mixed groups.
After changing, we head to Braco Stables for a matched horse and a two-hour trail ride through Jamaican countryside. Your guide shares local history as you ride toward the coast, with time to swim in the Caribbean if conditions allow. The day ends with return transfer to your hotel or cruise port.
The Rio Bueno lies west of Ocho Rios in St. Ann parish, with Braco Estate nearby for the riding section. The river valley is lush and shaded, while the estate trails open onto coastal views as you approach the sea.
Pickup covers resorts and cruise ports in the Ocho Rios and Falmouth areas depending on your option. The scenic drive between river and stables sets up a full day without you needing to coordinate separate operators.
Wear swimwear under clothes for the river section and closed shoes for the trail.
Bring a towel, water shoes and cash for optional drinks or snacks at the beach bar after the river run. Share your riding experience with us so the right horse is prepared.
Our experienced river and riding guides keep both sessions safe and well paced for mixed groups. Transport, briefings and equipment help the day flow smoothly from hotel door to river, trail and back.
Two north coast highlights are combined in one itinerary, so you spend less time in transit and more time on the water and in the saddle. Share your hotel name and pickup timing can be confirmed for your party.
Travel to the Rio Bueno put-in, cross the Irie Bridge and walk to the launch area. Guides run a safety briefing, fit life jackets and check equipment before you enter the river for the rapids run.
Paddle or float downstream through white water rapids and calm pools with your guide leading the line. The run ends near the coast where you can swim, buy a drink at the beach bar and dry off before the riding section.
At Braco Stables, guides match you with a horse for a trail ride through estate land toward the sea. Ride along historic paths, hear local stories and cool off with an optional swim on horseback when the beach allows.
Allow about six hours door to door, including transport, the river rapids session, horseback riding and time at the beach before return to your hotel or cruise port.
Exact timing depends on your pickup point and how long you spend swimming after the river section.
The river section uses kayaks, rafts or tubes depending on what we confirm before your trip. Guides lead you through a series of white water rapids and calm pools on the Rio Bueno.
A safety briefing and equipment check happen at the put-in before you enter the water. No previous paddling experience is required for the guided run.
Yes. At Braco Stables, guides match you with a horse suited to your riding ability for a trail ride through countryside with historical commentary along the route.
The ride may include a stop to swim with the horses in the Caribbean Sea when conditions allow.
Beginners are welcome. Guides assess your comfort in the saddle at the stables and choose a horse to match your experience before the trail begins.
Share your riding background with us so the right horse is prepared. The trail pace suits mixed groups with regular stops for photos and stories.
Wear swimwear or quick-dry clothes for the river, with water shoes and a towel. Bring a change of clothes for horseback riding and the beach stop.
Sunscreen, insect repellent and a waterproof bag for your phone are useful throughout the day.
Pickup may be available from Ocho Rios resorts and cruise ports depending on your hotel location. We will confirm your collection window when you get in touch.
Guests outside the standard zone can arrange a meeting point with us.
Children may join when accompanied by an adult and meeting minimum age rules for the river and riding sections. Share ages with us.
River rapids suit guests with basic water confidence. Younger children should be comfortable wearing a life jacket in moving water.
River trips may be adjusted if heavy rain makes conditions unsafe. Horseback riding may continue in light rain with appropriate clothing.
If weather disrupts your session, your guide on the day will explain any changes.
Guided river activity with safety equipment, horseback riding with trail guide and basic supervision are included. Transport from the standard pickup zone is included when arranged for your group.
Meals, photos and souvenirs at the beach bar are not included unless we advise otherwise before your trip.
We pack river rapids and horseback riding into one north coast day so you do not need separate transfers or planning. Guides stay with you from the river put-in through the trail ride to the coast.
Share your hotel or cruise port with us and we will confirm pickup timing and what to bring for both the water and riding sections.
