Leave the coast behind for two days in the Blue Mountains, where a world-famous coffee tour, an overnight mountain stay and a pre-dawn hike to the summit combine for sunrise above the clouds.
Day one crosses from your north coast resort toward Kingston and into the mountains, with a factory visit that explains how Blue Mountain coffee is grown, processed and roasted. You settle at Forrest Park Resort for the evening before an early start on day two.
Day two begins around 1:00 AM with transport to the trailhead. Roughly three hours of uphill walking brings you to the peak in time for sunrise, followed by a guided descent and return to your resort. The pace is steady and suited to active hikers who enjoy long days on mountain paths.
The Blue Mountains rise east of Kingston, with Mavis Bank and Forrest Park Resort among the classic staging points for peak hikes. Cooler temperatures and cloud forest scenery feel worlds away from the north coast beaches.
At 2,256 metres, Blue Mountain Peak is Jamaica's highest point. The trail winds through misty forest and open ridges where, on a clear morning, sunrise spreads across the island below. The coffee factory visit adds a cultural layer to the mountain landscape.
This is a challenging overnight hike to Jamaica's highest peak. You should be comfortable walking uphill for several hours on uneven mountain trails. Previous hill walking or hiking experience is strongly recommended.
Guests must be at least 16 years old. Pack broken-in hiking boots, warm layers, a head torch with spare batteries and a waterproof jacket for the pre-dawn summit push. A small overnight bag is needed for the lodge stay.
Our experienced mountain guides know the trail, the weather patterns and the safest pacing for summit day. Resort pickup, lodge accommodation and factory entry are coordinated so you can focus on the hike and the views rather than logistics.
We handle the long drives, early starts and mountain transfers that make a peak hike daunting on your own. You arrive rested at the lodge, briefed for summit night and supported on the trail from first light to the final descent.
Resort pickup begins your journey through Kingston toward the Blue Mountains. At the Mavis Bank Coffee Factory, a guided tour explains processing from bean to cup before you continue to Forrest Park Resort for the night.
