Refreshing your scuba skills is a great way to regain confidence and ensure safety before your next dive. This course is designed for certified divers returning after a break, combining self-paced online learning with practical in-water sessions to update your knowledge and skills. It provides a personalised approach, focusing on areas where you feel less confident.
The course begins with an online theory review that you can complete at your own pace. This covers important diving principles, safety practices, and terminology to refresh your knowledge from previous training. The online portion typically takes 2-3 hours to complete and prepares you for the practical session.
Following the online work, you’ll join a supervised in-water session at one of the available locations. Here, you will practice core scuba skills such as buoyancy control, mask clearing, regulator recovery, and emergency procedures under the guidance of an instructor. The session is tailored to your individual needs, allowing more time on any skills where you want extra practice. This hands-on approach is designed to rebuild your confidence and comfort underwater, ensuring you feel ready for your next dive, whether in the UK or abroad.
The in-water training takes place at Highworth Pool in Swindon, a well-maintained indoor pool with controlled conditions ideal for refreshing scuba skills. Alternatively, sessions can be held at The Forest School in Wokingham, which offers a comfortable learning environment with all necessary facilities.
Both locations are easily accessible by road and public transport, situated within reach of surrounding towns and cities. These venues provide a safe, supportive space to focus on rebuilding your diving confidence under expert supervision.
Participants must hold a recognised scuba diving certification, such as PADI Open Water Diver or an equivalent qualification, and be at least 10 years old. A reasonable level of health and fitness is required for safe diving; any chronic health issues or recent surgeries should be discussed with a physician beforehand.
Before the practical session, you are expected to complete the online theory review, which ensures you are familiar with current diving standards and procedures. This blended approach maximises learning flexibility and efficiency.
The instructors are experienced professionals who focus on providing personalised coaching to meet your individual needs. They are committed to helping you regain your confidence through clear guidance and patient support during the in-water practice.
The programme offers a flexible learning format with accessible locations and expert tuition, making it easy to fit refresher training into your schedule. This ensures you return to diving with up-to-date skills and a renewed sense of safety and enjoyment.
