This introduction is a scuba diving experience designed specifically for children aged 8 and above to safely take their first breaths underwater using scuba gear. It offers a fun and supportive environment for youngsters to get comfortable with diving basics under professional supervision.
The session starts with a briefing where children meet their PADI instructor and learn about the scuba equipment they will use. This includes the mask, snorkel, regulator, and buoyancy control device, explained in simple terms suitable for young learners. Safety procedures and underwater signals are introduced to ensure clear communication throughout the experience.
Next, participants enter shallow water, not exceeding 2 metres depth, where they get hands-on experience breathing through the scuba regulator. The instructor stays close to offer constant supervision and support. Children practice basic skills such as clearing their mask, regulator recovery, and controlled swimming while getting used to moving underwater.
This experience is designed to be enjoyable and confidence-building, laying the foundation for future PADI courses if children choose to continue diving. It is also a great activity for birthday parties or group events, allowing kids to share a memorable underwater experience with friends and family.
The meeting point is in Cala Barca urbanisation, Sa Barca Trencada on Mallorca’s southeast coast. This location is ideal for beginners due to its calm, sheltered waters that provide a safe and controlled environment for young divers.
Mallorca is part of the Balearic Islands in the western Mediterranean, known for varied marine life and excellent diving conditions. The island’s mild climate and clear waters create a perfect setting for introducing children to scuba diving.
Participants must be at least 8 years old and comfortable in the water, though no prior diving experience is necessary. Basic swimming ability or water confidence is recommended to make the most of the session.
Parental or legal guardian written consent is mandatory to ensure all safety and legal requirements are met before starting the activity.
The experience is delivered by certified PADI professionals committed to safe, supportive teaching methods tailored for children. Small groups ensure each child receives personalised attention, allowing them to build confidence in a friendly environment.
The setting and structure focus on fun while introducing important diving skills and safety practices. This makes it an ideal introduction to scuba diving, whether for personal interest or as a stepping stone to PADI’s junior certification courses.
Bubblemaker is a beginner scuba diving session designed specifically for children aged 8 and above. It allows kids to breathe underwater using full scuba equipment in shallow water, giving them a safe and fun introduction to the world of diving. The experience takes place under the close supervision of a qualified PADI instructor, ensuring safety at all times.
The session includes learning basic skills like breathing through a regulator, mask clearing, and underwater communication. It is not a certification course but serves as a first step that can spark interest in future PADI junior diving programmes. It’s also a popular activity for birthdays or group events.
No previous diving experience is necessary for the Bubblemaker session. However, children should feel comfortable in the water and ideally be able to swim or confidently stay afloat in shallow water. The environment is controlled and shallow (up to 2 metres), making it suitable even for beginners.
The instructor will provide full guidance and support throughout the session, ensuring that all participants learn at their own pace. The focus is on fun and safety, so there is no pressure to perform advanced skills.
The maximum depth for the Bubblemaker experience is 2 metres (6 feet). This shallow depth keeps the activity safe and comfortable for young participants while allowing them to experience breathing underwater and moving with scuba gear.
Because of the limited depth, the session takes place in calm, sheltered waters that are ideal for beginners. The instructor remains very close to the children throughout the dive to provide help and supervision.
Children will use full scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), and tank. Each piece is sized and adjusted to fit younger divers to ensure comfort and safety.
Before entering the water, the instructor will explain how each part of the equipment works and how to use it properly. The focus is on making the equipment familiar and easy to handle.
Safety is the highest priority, and all sessions are led by certified PADI instructors trained in working with children. Before going underwater, the instructor gives a detailed briefing on safety procedures, hand signals, and emergency protocols.
Throughout the dive, the instructor stays within arm’s reach of every child, providing constant supervision and assistance. The shallow depth and calm conditions further reduce risks, creating a secure environment for first-time divers.
Parents and guardians are welcome to observe the session from the shore or poolside, providing support and encouragement to the children. However, participation in the water is limited to those registered for the experience to maintain safety and focus.
Written consent from a parent or legal guardian is mandatory before the session starts. This ensures all responsibilities and safety measures are fully understood and agreed upon.
