Part A of this course is an excellent introductory programme designed for those wishing to enhance their freediving skills. This course lays the groundwork for mastering essential techniques and understanding the principles of freediving in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will gain valuable knowledge about breath-hold techniques, which are crucial for any aspiring freediver.
The PADI Basic Freediver course comprises two main components. The first is Knowledge Development, which is facilitated through the PADI Freediver Touch app. This interactive online platform allows participants to learn fundamental freediving principles at their own pace through engaging videos and quizzes. Instructors are available to assist with any questions throughout the learning process.
The second phase consists of a Confined Water Session, where practical skills are developed. This session focuses on static and dynamic apnea, teaching participants how to hold their breath effectively. The course aims for participants to achieve a static apnea time of 90 seconds and a dynamic apnea distance of 25 metres. Through this structured approach, students will build confidence in their abilities while ensuring a safe and memorable experience.
Training for the course takes place in the warm and controlled environments of pool facilities in Caterham, S.E. London, and Brighton. These locations provide an ideal setting for participants to practise their newly acquired skills in a safe and supervised manner.
Participants should be at least 12 years old and should be comfortable in the water. A basic level of swimming ability is beneficial, although specific swimming skills are not mandatory.
Prior experience in freediving is not required, making this course suitable for complete beginners.
Choosing this centre for your PADI Basic Freediver training means opting for a professional and personalised experience. Our instructors are not only fully qualified PADI professionals, but they also adhere to UK Health and Safety Executive regulations, ensuring your safety throughout the course.
We prioritise small group sizes to guarantee personalised attention, enhancing your experience. Additionally, our comprehensive course materials and access to quality equipment ensure you have everything you need to succeed in your freediving journey.
