Night forest and frozen lakes outside Rovaniemi are the ground for this two hour snowmobile drive. Pickup within 10 kilometres of the city centre is included. The sky may show the northern lights, and we treat that as a hope rather than a promise.
Evening collection comes first: we kit you with warm riding gear, a helmet and gloves, then your guide walks through safety and the basics of sled control. The first minutes on marked trails stay steady so you can feel how the machine moves, then the two hour drive runs through snowy forest, along frozen bogs and across lake ice at a moderate pace.
You watch the sky while you ride, but a clear green band is never promised. Solo or two-up riding is offered. When you come off the trail we confirm how you get back into Rovaniemi, because a return drop-off is not part of this outing. Be ready five minutes before the pickup time we send you.
Evening trails through forest, bog edges and lake ice sit in the countryside around Rovaniemi, away from town lights. You travel there with us from the city, so you do not need to find the trailhead yourself.
Pickup runs within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre. Share your hotel or cabin address so we can plan the run out, and be ready five minutes before the time we send you. A return drop-off is not part of this outing, and we will confirm how you get back into town when we set the meeting time.
This evening drive is built for first-time riders. The briefing covers how the sled moves, and the first minutes on marked trails stay calm so you can settle into the machine. Guests need to be at least 3 years old, and the outing needs at least two people.
Wear warm layers under the riding gear we give you, and winter boots for the time off the sled. Tell us who is coming so we can shape the session around your group. Anyone who joins should be able to sit on a snowmobile and follow simple safety instructions.
Night rides on these trails are still run by Finnish guides whose family began looking after visitors in 1979, now in a third generation. The outing stays with your own group on evening trails, with time to learn the sled rather than a rush into the dark.
You get riding kit, a helmet and gloves, and a two hour drive through forest and lake ice. We hope for lights and we never promise them, so the night is still a real snowmobile session even if the sky stays quiet.
We collect you from your stay within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre. Please be ready five minutes before the time we send you. On arrival at the trail we fit warm riding gear, a helmet and gloves, and your guide walks through safety and sled control.
The first minutes stay steady so you can feel the machine, then the two hour drive runs through snowy forest, along frozen bogs and across lake ice. Speed stays moderate. Watch the sky, and remember that lights are a hope, not a promise.
If the sky opens you may see green or purple bands above the pines. If it stays covered, you still have the evening sled time. When you come off the trail we confirm how you get back into Rovaniemi, because a return drop-off is not part of this outing.
You do not need any sled background. The briefing covers safety and how the machine moves, and the first minutes on marked trails stay steady so you can feel the rhythm before the pace comes up.
Your guide leads the two hour drive through forest, bog edges and lake ice at a moderate speed. Questions are welcome while you are on the trail.
No. The lights are a hope on this evening outing, not a promise. Cloud, moonlight and quiet solar activity can leave the sky dark even on a good winter night.
The session is still a two hour snowmobile drive through forest and lake ice. Come for the sled time, and treat any colour in the sky as a bonus rather than the reason the night runs.
This is an easy outing rather than a long hike. You should be comfortable sitting on a snowmobile for a two hour drive in Finnish winter weather, including evening cold.
Dress in warm layers you can add or remove under the riding kit, and wear winter boots with a decent sole for the time off the sled. We can pause so you can warm your hands.
Guests need to be at least 3 years old, and the outing needs at least two people. Tell us the ages in your group so we can say whether the evening trail will suit everyone who wants to come.
Everyone who joins should be able to sit on a snowmobile and follow simple safety instructions. Bring extra layers for younger guests, as they cool down faster once you stop moving.
Wear warm layers under the riding gear we give you, a hat, and winter boots. We supply the riding kit, helmet and gloves for the time you are on the sled. Evening air cools you faster than a daytime walk through town.
Bring a small dry bag for your phone. Have your hotel or cabin address ready so we can plan pickup within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre.
The drive itself takes two hours. The whole outing is about four hours, including pickup within 10 kilometres of the city centre, the briefing, and the run out to the trails.
Be ready five minutes before the pickup time we send you. We will confirm timings once we have your address.
The session needs a sound trail, so we watch the temperature and the state of the ground before we set out. Soft ice, a sudden thaw or a closed trail can mean we have to move your time or stop the night.
Cloud does not stop the sled time on its own. If the sky is covered you still ride; only the lights stay hidden. If we cannot run the trail, we will be in touch as early as we can.
Pickup is included if your hotel or cabin sits within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre. Share the address in advance, and please be ready five minutes before the time we send you.
This outing does not include a return drop-off. Stays outside that radius are not part of the pickup. We will confirm how you get back into town when we set the meeting time.
Meals and drinks are not part of this outing, so eat before we collect you or bring a small snack of your own. The night is about the two hour drive, not a sit-down meal on the ice.
Pack the warm layers and boots you already own. If you have questions about what we will have with us, ask us in advance.
Solo and two-up riding are both offered. Tell us who wants their own machine and who would rather ride together, and we will set the group up that way.
The first minutes on marked trails are there so everyone can feel the sled before the pace comes up, whether you are driving or sitting behind.

About the centre
Rovaniemi
You'll spend your days on private forest and lake land outside Rovaniemi, where ice-track driving, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and fishing sit alongside quiet time by the fire. This is a family that has been looking after visitors in Finnish Lapland since 1979, now in its third generation, with Finnish guides who know the ground.
We'll collect you from around Rovaniemi, kit you for the cold, and keep the outing to your own group on private land. Jesse and the team shape each session around how you want to spend the day, from a first hour on the ice track to a longer evening under the northern lights.
