These private surf lessons are designed specifically for children wanting a more personalised introduction to surfing in a safe and supportive environment. With dedicated instructor attention throughout the session, younger surfers can learn at their own pace while developing confidence, water awareness, and essential surfing techniques close to shore.
The lesson begins near My Khe Beach, where children meet the instructor, prepare their surf equipment, and get ready for the session. Depending on sea and weather conditions, rash vests or wetsuits are provided before heading down towards the shoreline. A short warm-up helps participants feel comfortable before starting the beach introduction.
During the beach section, the instructor explains the fundamentals of surfing in a way that is easy for younger participants to understand. Children learn how to position themselves correctly on the surfboard, paddle efficiently, balance while riding waves, and perform the pop-up technique safely. Ocean awareness and surf safety are introduced throughout the session to help children feel more confident in the water.
Once in the sea, the instructor works closely with each child to build confidence gradually while practising wave catching and balance techniques in beginner-friendly conditions. The private lesson format allows the pace to be fully adapted depending on experience and comfort levels, creating a more relaxed learning environment throughout the session before returning back from the beach afterwards.
Located along the coastline of Sơn Trà, My Khe Beach provides a comfortable environment for younger surfers learning close to shore. The long sandy beach and open beginner-friendly surf conditions make it one of the most suitable locations in Da Nang for children trying surfing for the first time.
Away from the water, the surrounding coastline combines scenic sea views with cafés, restaurants, and quieter stretches of beach nearby. The nearby Sơn Trà Peninsula adds a more natural backdrop to the lesson while still remaining close to central Da Nang.
No previous surfing experience is required for children joining the lesson. Private instruction allows the session to be adjusted around the child’s confidence level, making it suitable for complete beginners as well as younger surfers wanting to improve existing skills.
Children should feel reasonably comfortable around water and able to take part in light physical activity during the session. Younger participants aged 6 to 8 are recommended to take private instruction before joining larger group lessons.
Private coaching gives younger surfers more direct instructor support throughout the lesson, helping children build confidence safely while learning at a pace suited to them. The one-to-one format also allows instructors to focus more closely on technique, encouragement, and ocean awareness.
Experienced instructors, beginner-friendly surf conditions, and quality equipment help create a supportive environment where children can enjoy learning while spending as much time as possible practising in the water. Sessions focus on safety, confidence, and making surfing approachable for younger participants.
Private lessons allow the instructor to focus entirely on the child throughout the session. This helps younger surfers learn more comfortably while receiving support tailored specifically to their confidence and ability level.
Children often feel more relaxed learning one-to-one, especially if they are trying surfing for the first time or feel nervous around the ocean.
The private lessons are suitable for children aged 6 and above. Younger surfers often benefit from the additional support and attention provided during private coaching sessions.
Children aged 6 to 8 are generally recommended to begin with private instruction before joining larger group surf lessons for added safety and confidence building.

The session is suitable for complete beginners as well as children who may already have some basic surfing experience and want to improve further.
Participants learn the key foundations of surfing, including paddling, balancing on the board, catching beginner waves, and standing up safely using the pop-up technique.
