Few activities combine relaxation and outdoor adventure quite like kayaking on calm water. This guided tour takes you onto the peaceful waters of the Jarrama Reservoir, where pine-covered shores, quiet surroundings and gentle paddling create an enjoyable experience for families, friends and first-time kayakers alike.
After meeting your guide, you'll receive a simple introduction to kayaking on the shoreline. You'll learn how to hold the paddle correctly, move efficiently through the water, steer your kayak and, if you're sharing a kayak, coordinate with your paddling partner. Within minutes, most people feel comfortable enough to head out onto the reservoir.
Once on the water, you'll follow a relaxed route through the reservoir, surrounded by pine forests and natural scenery. As the waterway narrows, you'll paddle towards a bridge marking the provincial boundary, enjoying peaceful views and a completely different perspective of the landscape along the way.
The activity takes place on the Jarrama Reservoir, located a short distance from the town of Nerva in Huelva Province. Exact meeting details will be provided after booking.
Surrounded by forests and rolling countryside, the reservoir offers calm conditions that are ideal for beginner kayakers. The combination of sheltered waters and natural scenery makes it one of the most enjoyable locations in the area for a relaxed paddle.
No previous kayaking experience is required. The activity is suitable for beginners, families and anyone looking to spend time outdoors on the water.
Comfortable clothing that can get slightly wet is recommended, along with suitable footwear that provides good grip around the launch area.
Kayaking should be enjoyable from the moment you launch, which is why the introduction focuses on practical techniques rather than lengthy theory. Guides help you gain confidence quickly so you can spend more time enjoying the surroundings.
The calm waters of the Jarrama Reservoir provide ideal conditions for learning, relaxing and exploring. Combined with professional guidance and a scenic route, it creates an experience that appeals to all ages and ability levels.
Not at all. Most people who join the tour have little or no kayaking experience, which is exactly why the route has been chosen for calm and manageable conditions.
Before setting off, you'll learn the basics of paddling, turning and stopping. Within a few minutes, most first-timers are moving comfortably across the water and wondering why they ever thought kayaking looked difficult.
Modern recreational kayaks are much more stable than many people expect. On the calm waters of the reservoir, they feel surprisingly secure.
Of course, kayaking is still a water activity, so getting splashed occasionally is part of the fun. The vast majority of beginners quickly relax once they realise how stable the kayaks are.
Tandem kayaking often creates some of the funniest moments of the day. At first, one person paddles while the other forgets, then both paddle at different speeds, and eventually everything starts to click.
You'll be shown how to work together efficiently. The person at the front provides most of the power while the person at the back helps steer and control direction.
The route is designed to be enjoyable rather than exhausting. You'll paddle at a relaxed pace with plenty of opportunities to stop, take in the scenery and enjoy being on the water.
Most people finish the tour pleasantly tired rather than worn out, making it suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels.
Yes. The activity is suitable for children aged 8 and above.
Many younger paddlers enjoy learning new skills and exploring the reservoir from a completely different perspective than they would experience on land.
Comfortable outdoor clothing that can get slightly wet is ideal. While you're unlikely to end up soaked, a few splashes are all part of the experience.
Footwear with good grip is also recommended, particularly around the launch area where surfaces can sometimes be damp.
