We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
Our SOT kayaks are extremely stable and suitable for anyone from the age of 15 up. They come with a moulded back rest that is very comfortable. They have a space at the back for your dry bag and a holder in front of you for anything that's smaller [but also needs a dry pack].
When you arrive at Oddicombe Beach, our team checks you in at the beach desk, helps you select the right craft for your group, and hands over paddles and buoyancy aids. You get a clear safety brief and an outline of the marked hire zone before you launch from the sand.
Choose Solo sit-on-tops for your own boat, Tandem craft to share paddling, Tandem Offshore for two adults or a parent with a child under 16, or the Quatro Family kayak for up to three paddlers or a family with younger children. Each option is hired by the hour so you can explore Babbacombe Bay at your own pace inside the marked zone.
Babbacombe Beach alongside Oddicombe Beach is a sheltered cove on the English Riviera with clean water and Blue Flag recognition stretching back 37 years. SW winds are blocked here, so the bay stays calmer than much of the open coast and feels more Mediterranean than many Devon beaches.
You launch straight from the sand with caves nearby and regular seal encounters in season. Parking sits close to the beach, and our team is on hand for kit, a safety brief, and advice on the marked paddling area before you head out.
No previous experience is required for hire inside our marked area. You should be comfortable at the water's edge, able to follow the safety brief, and happy to wear a buoyancy aid for the duration of your session.
Age limits and craft choice depend on the option you select. Children must be supervised by an adult on the water, and anyone unsure about conditions should ask the beach team before launching.
Make your trip to the English Riviera an unforgettable experience by visiting Torbay's premier beach. We offer first-class equipment, friendly staff, professional beach hire services, expert tuition, free lockers, changing rooms, a beach shower and exceptional coffee when you are off the water.
Our instructors and beach team know Babbacombe Bay inside out, from sheltered corners on breezy days to the best stretches for beginners. They fit buoyancy aids, talk through local conditions, and help you choose the right craft so you feel confident on the water.
Your hire includes the craft you select, a paddle where needed, and a buoyancy aid per paddler, plus a beach safety brief and use of the marked hire area.
Dry bags, phone cases and jackets are available to rent separately at the beach desk if you want extra protection for valuables on the water.
Wear swimwear or quick-drying clothes you are happy to get wet, with sun cream and a hat in summer.
A light layer helps on breezier days. Wetsuits are optional unless you feel the cold easily.

Oddicombe has held Blue Flag status for 37 years thanks to clean water and a sheltered position away from harbour outflows and busy shipping lanes.
The cove is protected from south-westerly winds, with caves to explore, regular seal encounters in season, and easy launch from the sand with our beach team nearby.
Yes. Buoyancy aids are included for every paddler and we fit them at the beach desk before you launch into the marked hire area.
Tell the beach team if anyone in your group is a weaker swimmer so we can double-check sizing, adjust the zone for the day, and suggest the calmest corner of the bay.
Your safety comes first. If wind or sea state is unsuitable we may delay your start, shorten your hire, or suggest a different craft or time according to our cancellation policy.
The beach team monitors conditions through the day and will advise honestly at check-in. We never send you out when the marked area is unsafe for your chosen activity.
Transport to and from Oddicombe Beach is not included with hire. Most visitors drive or walk from local accommodation on the English Riviera.
Parking is available near the beach. Allow a few extra minutes to walk kit down to the sand with our team, especially on busy summer days.
Hire length follows the duration options on your chosen product, typically from one hour up to four hours depending on craft and how long you want on the water.
Return kit to the beach desk at the end of your slot so equipment is ready for the next group and we can keep the hire queue moving smoothly.
Meet at our beach desk on Oddicombe Beach, Torquay TQ1 3DD, unless your confirmation email states a different launch point for a guided session.
Look for the watersports hire area on the sand beside the main slipway. Our staff will run through your paperwork, fit buoyancy aids, and hand over kit there.
