Riding a motorised surfboard across Ibiza’s calm Mediterranean waters combines balance, speed, and precision without relying on waves or wind. These guided JETSURF lessons at Port des Torrent are designed for beginners and returning riders wanting to experience one of the fastest electric watersports available on the island.
The session starts at the activity centre in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, where participants meet their instructor before travelling together to Port des Torrent beach. Before entering the water, the instructor explains how the JETSURF board works, including throttle control, balance positioning, safety procedures, and communication signals used during the lesson.
Once equipped with safety gear, riders begin practising board control in calmer water conditions close to shore. The lightweight carbon fibre boards use a powerful propulsion system capable of high speeds across the sea, allowing participants to experience powered surfing without needing waves. Beginners focus first on stability and throttle control before gradually progressing towards standing and steering more confidently.
Throughout the lesson, instructors adapt the coaching around each participant’s ability level, allowing complete beginners to learn safely while more experienced riders can improve speed control and handling techniques. The calmer conditions around Port des Torrent provide an ideal setting for developing confidence on the board.
Port des Torrent is located within a sheltered area of San Antonio Bay and is well known for calmer Mediterranean water conditions. These smoother conditions make the area particularly suitable for electric watersports lessons and balance-based activities.
The surrounding coastline combines clear turquoise water with quieter beach surroundings away from some of Ibiza’s busier resort areas. Calm morning and afternoon conditions often provide excellent riding sessions throughout the season.
Participants must be at least 18 years old, able to swim confidently, and bring valid ID or a passport for check-in. Previous surfing or motorised watersports experience is not required.
Guests should arrive with swimwear, towels, and suitable clothing for the conditions on the day. Following all instructor safety guidance during the session is essential.
As the first official JETSURF school in Spain, the centre provides professional instruction from experienced coaches familiar with high-performance motorised surfboards and local sea conditions. Lessons are organised to help riders build confidence progressively while maintaining safe learning conditions on the water.
Smaller private groups allow instructors to provide more individual guidance throughout the session. Quality equipment, experienced staff, and carefully selected riding locations all contribute to a smoother and more enjoyable experience.
A JETSURF is a motorised surfboard powered by an integrated propulsion system rather than waves. Riders control speed using a handheld throttle while balancing and steering across the surface of the water.
The boards are manufactured using lightweight carbon fibre materials designed for performance and stability.
No previous surfing experience is necessary to take part in the lesson. Sessions are suitable for beginners as well as participants with previous board sport experience.
The instructor explains all techniques and controls before entering the water.
JETSURF boards are capable of reaching high speeds across calm water conditions, although beginners start slowly while learning balance and handling.
As confidence improves during the lesson, participants can gradually increase their speed under supervision.
The activity requires balance, coordination, and moderate physical ability, particularly while learning to stand on the board.
Participants do not need advanced fitness levels, although being comfortable in the water and reasonably active is recommended.
Port des Torrent offers calmer and more protected water conditions than many exposed parts of Ibiza’s coastline.
These smoother conditions make learning balance and board control more manageable for first-time riders.
Guests should bring swimwear, towels, sun cream, and a valid ID or passport before arriving at the activity centre.
Lightweight clothing suitable for getting wet is also recommended during the session.
