Take the controls on an introductory helicopter flight lesson from Westchester under the guidance of an FAA-certified instructor. This hands-on experience is designed for anyone curious about learning to fly, whether you are exploring a future in aviation or simply want to try something extraordinary.
You'll meet your instructor at our Westchester helicopter base for a ground briefing that covers how a helicopter flies, what each control does, and how you and your instructor will work together in the cockpit. After boarding, your instructor demonstrates basic manoeuvres before inviting you to take the controls during the airborne portion of the lesson. You'll practice maintaining straight and level flight, feel how the cyclic and collective respond, and build a real sense of what it means to fly a helicopter under professional supervision.
Your instructor remains pilot in command throughout and can take over instantly whenever needed, so you can learn confidently on your first flight. On many of our aircraft, friends or family can ride along in the rear seats and watch the lesson unfold. When you land, there is time for a short debrief where your instructor answers questions and talks through what you accomplished in the air.
Lessons depart from 67 Tower Rd, West Harrison, NY 10604, at our Westchester helicopter base near Westchester County Airport. The training area around Westchester offers open airspace well suited to introductory lessons, with room to practice basic manoeuvres safely away from congested airspace.
On-site parking makes arrival straightforward for students travelling from New York City, Connecticut, and the wider metro area. Plan a little extra driving time during peak traffic so you can begin your briefing relaxed and on schedule.
