The session starts with a brief introduction to paddleboarding equipment and safety protocols. You'll learn how to balance, paddle, and steer your board, with hands-on guidance from our expert instructors. We ensure that everyone, regardless of skill level, feels comfortable and confident before heading out on the water.
Once you're ready, we'll paddle along the scenic River Thames, taking in the gorgeous views and natural beauty of the area. Our instructors will provide ongoing support, helping you refine your technique and build your confidence. The session is designed to be both instructional and enjoyable, making sure you leave with a solid foundation in paddleboarding and a memorable experience.
The activity takes place on the River Thames in Wolvercote, Oxford. This beautiful location offers calm waters ideal for beginners and provides a scenic backdrop for your paddleboarding adventure. The area is easily accessible and perfect for a day out in nature.
No prior paddleboarding experience is required. Participants should be 8 years or older and wear comfortable clothing suitable for water activities. While swimming ability is not mandatory, please inform us if you are a weak or non-swimmer.
Led by Charles, a seasoned outdoor professional with a decade of teaching experience and leadership roles in the British Exploring Society, our sessions promise top-tier instruction and safety.
Charles is an Enhanced DBS checked Winter Mountain Leader, Paddlesport Leader, and Bushcraft Instructor, with extensive experience leading expeditions and a passion for adventure. His dedication to sharing the wonders of the outdoors ensures a fun, educational, and safe experience for all participants.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for water activities. Ideal options include shorts, running tights, and a t-shirt. If the weather is cool, bring an extra layer like a lightweight jacket or fleece.
Old trainers or water shoes are best for footwear, as they provide good grip and can get wet. It’s also advisable to bring a change of clothes in case you get wet.
Swimming ability is not mandatory for this paddleboarding session. However, if you are a weak or non-swimmer, please inform us before the session begins.
Our instructors are trained to provide additional support and ensure your safety on the water. We will provide life jackets to all participants, which must be worn at all times.

Children aged 8 and above are welcome to join the session. Parents or guardians can choose to stay and watch or drop off their children and return at the end of the session.

Falling in the water is a common part of learning to paddleboard, especially for beginners. Our boards are designed to be stable, but occasionally participants may lose their balance.
If you fall in, simply climb back onto your board. Our instructors will be nearby to assist and ensure you are safe. Bring a towel and a change of clothes for after the session, just in case.
