If you're keen to try outdoor rock climbing in a safe environment, this session is perfect for you. Set at one of Lancashire's hidden crags, you'll experience the excitement of climbing a natural rock face while being securely anchored by ropes, making it an ideal introduction to the sport. Under the guidance of an expert instructor, you'll learn the essentials of movement, climbing technique, and safety procedures.
During this introductory session, you'll be taught the essentials of outdoor rock climbing in a controlled, fun, and safe manner. The day begins with a short safety briefing, followed by a demonstration of how to safely use the top-rope system. You’ll then have the opportunity to climb the rock face with guidance from your instructor, who will provide tips to improve your technique. For those looking to add a bit more excitement, there’s the chance to incorporate an abseil into the session.
The session is tailored to your group's size, so for smaller groups (up to 3 people), you'll spend around 3-4 hours at the crag. Larger groups (4-6 people) will have a slightly extended session. Whether you're new to climbing or looking to refine your technique, this introduction will leave you feeling confident and excited about the sport.
The session takes place at a beautiful, lesser-known crag in Lancashire offering a fantastic natural climbing environment with well-secured top-rope systems.
With gorgeous views and a peaceful atmosphere, it’s the perfect setting for your first taste of outdoor climbing.
There are no prior climbing skills required for this session. However, participants should be comfortable with light physical activity and able to walk to the crag in suitable footwear.
Walking boots or tight-fitting trainers are essential for comfort and safety. The session is open to individuals aged 8 and above, making it suitable for families, friends, or small groups.
Led by founder Ed, with over 30 years of personal climbing experience, this session offers expert guidance from someone deeply passionate about the sport. Ed holds prestigious qualifications, including the MTUK Mountaineering Instructor and Development Coach qualifications, as well as being a full AMI member, NICAS Director, and DofE Assessor.
His extensive background in climbing and coaching, alongside his hands-on experience with climbing facilities, ensures that you're learning from a highly skilled professional. When not instructing, Ed can often be found climbing, trail running, or caving with his family making him the perfect person to introduce you to the world of adventure sports in the north west.
