Progressing your surfing becomes far more enjoyable when you have the right coaching and conditions around you. These intermediate surf lessons are designed for those who already have some experience and want to build on their existing skills. With focused guidance and small groups, you’ll develop better control, timing, and confidence in the water.
Your session begins on the beach with a focused refresher of core techniques. The instructor will assess your current level, revisit key fundamentals such as positioning and paddling, and highlight areas for improvement. This ensures you’re fully prepared before heading into the water and ready to move beyond the basics.
Once in the sea, the lesson shifts towards developing more consistent wave riding. You’ll work on catching unbroken waves, improving your timing, and controlling your direction along the face of the wave. With guidance throughout, you’ll start to feel more comfortable navigating slightly more dynamic conditions compared to beginner sessions.
As the lesson progresses, attention turns to building flow and confidence. You’ll begin linking movements together, focusing on smoother take-offs and longer rides. With personalised feedback during the session, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what to practise next and how to keep improving independently.
Sessions take place in the Corralejo area in northern Fuerteventura, known for its reliable surf and variety of beaches suited to developing surfers. The coastline offers a mix of sandbanks and gentle reef breaks, allowing instructors to choose the most suitable spot depending on the day’s conditions.
Thanks to the range of nearby beaches, travel times are kept short while still giving access to different wave types. This flexibility ensures you’re always surfing in conditions that match your level, helping you progress safely and effectively.
Participants should have previous surfing experience and feel comfortable paddling out beyond the shore. You should already be able to catch small waves independently and have a basic understanding of surf etiquette and safety.
A reasonable level of fitness and confidence in open water is important, as sessions will involve more time in the lineup and slightly more demanding conditions than beginner lessons.
Built on years of experience across multiple board sports, the coaching approach focuses on helping surfers move beyond the basics with clear, practical guidance. The team’s background includes involvement in the early progression of modern watersports, bringing a deep understanding of technique and performance into every session.
Equally, attention is given to creating the right environment for progression. With small group sizes, high-quality equipment, and the ability to choose the best surf spot each day, every session is tailored to help you improve efficiently while enjoying your time in the water.
Yes, as long as you’re comfortable paddling out and catching small waves on your own, this level is a good next step. The lesson starts with a refresher to make sure your fundamentals are solid before progressing further.
If you’re unsure, the instructor can quickly assess your ability at the start and guide you accordingly. The aim is to build on what you already know without pushing you too far too quickly.
At the intermediate stage, the focus shifts towards consistency and control rather than just standing up. You’ll work on improving your timing, catching better waves, and riding along the face rather than straight towards the shore.
You’ll also start learning how to read the conditions more effectively, which is key to progressing independently outside of lessons.
You may be introduced to slightly larger or more powerful waves, but only if conditions are suitable and you feel comfortable. The goal is to gradually build confidence without overwhelming you.
Instructors choose locations carefully, so you’ll always be surfing in conditions that support your progression safely.
With a maximum of 6–8 students per instructor, there’s plenty of opportunity for individual feedback throughout the session. This helps you identify small adjustments that can make a big difference.
You’ll receive guidance both on the beach and in the water, ensuring you understand how to apply improvements straight away.
You’ll need swimwear, a towel, and ideally some sunscreen. Everything else, including your surfboard and wetsuit, is provided for you.
Bringing water is also recommended, as you’ll be active for several hours and staying hydrated will help maintain your energy levels.
Yes, the location may change depending on the day’s conditions. This ensures you’re always surfing in the most suitable environment for your level.
Having access to multiple beaches allows the session to be adapted, giving you the best chance to improve.
