The day begins with a hearty start as you set off at 8:00 am from the scenic Ullswater, ready to complete the full 20-mile circuit. The route offers an array of scenic highlights, from high and low-level views of the lake to dramatic landscapes framed by the Helvellyn and High Street mountain ranges. You’ll traverse diverse terrains, including the calm shores of Ullswater, the enchanting Glencoyne, and the rugged Gowbarrow Fell.
As you walk, you'll have the chance to visit the renowned Aira Force waterfalls and explore quaint villages like Pooley Bridge, Glenridding, Patterdale, and Howtown. Throughout the day, you'll be guided by a knowledgeable and experienced leader, ensuring safety and providing insight into the area's beauty. The adventure combines physical challenge with the joy of discovering some of the Lake District’s most amazing places.

The Ullswater Way Challenge is a 20-mile circular walk around Ullswater, the most scenic lake in England.
It offers a blend of stunning lake views, mountainous scenery, and charming villages in the Lake District.
Wear comfortable, moisture-wicking layers, a waterproof jacket, and sturdy walking boots. Bring a backpack with water, snacks, a hat, gloves, sunscreen, and a first aid kit.
It's also a good idea to carry a map and compass or GPS device. We'll send you a kit list before the day.
While the walk is graded as easy, participants should be in good physical condition and able to walk 20 miles in varied terrain within a day.
A reasonable level of fitness is necessary to enjoy and complete the challenge.

Depending on how much you tend to drink while exercising, we recommend bringing 2-4 litres. However a support vehicle will be on hand carrying extra water and snacks (min group size 6).
