Experience the exhilaration of catching a wave and gliding over the water with our group surf lessons at Dunnet Beach in Caithness, near Thurso. Priced at £40 per person, this 2-hour session (1.5 hours between November & March) provides the perfect opportunity for beginners and those looking to refresh their skills.
Our group surf lessons start with a meet-up at the beach car park. After changing into provided wetsuits, we head down to the beach for an introduction covering theory and safety information. We'll do a quick warm-up on land before entering the water, where our experienced instructors provide personalised tips and guidance. Participants have ample time to enjoy the water and waves while continually improving their surfing skills.
Open to all ages (4+), with participants under 8 requiring adult supervision. We provide all the necessary equipment for a safe and enjoyable surfing experience.

Situated in the cold water surfing mecca of the world, we provide a base for adventure on a beautiful remote coastline. Thurso features Scotland's premier right-hand reef break, ideal for experienced surfers. For all skill levels, the North Coast offers isolated beaches, and perfect waves.
Our group surf lessons are suitable for participants aged 4 and above. We welcome individuals of all ages to join the exciting experience of catching waves at Dunnet Beach. We ask that under 8s are accompanied by a participating adult.
No, our group surf lessons cater to all skill levels, from total beginners to more experienced improver surfers. Our experienced instructors customise each session to ensure an enjoyable and satisfying learning experience for everyone.
Yes, we provide all necessary equipment, including high-quality 5mm thick wetsuits with boots, gloves, and hoods if required. Participants should bring a towel, warm clothes for changing, and water. We recommend arriving wearing your swimwear.
Lesson times may change to accommodate wave conditions. If adjustments are needed, we'll get in touch with you to communicate any changes in the time or meeting point.
Group lessons require a minimum of three people. If fewer than three participants are booked for the selected day and time, we'll contact you 12 hours before the trip. Options include rescheduling or upgrading to a private lesson with an additional fee.
