Forest and fell roads lead you from Ruka toward historic Pohjolan Pirtti on a day that mixes active gravel riding with genuine northern culture. Welcome drinks by the fire, hands-on baking and a shared lunch sit in the middle of the ride, giving you time to slow down before the afternoon miles home.
Morning miles on gravel set the tone as the group winds through changing forest and fell scenery toward Pohjolan Pirtti. Your guide keeps the rhythm steady, with photo and water stops woven in so the riding never feels rushed. Energy sweets on the bike bridge the gap between the cultural stop and the return leg later in the day.
Pohjolan Pirtti slows the day down in the best way. You step inside for welcome drinks by the fire, hear local stories, bake barley flatbread and sweet buns, then share lunch with elk casserole, fresh bread, coffee and buns. Back on the bikes, the afternoon loop home eases in pace so tired legs still enjoy the final forest miles.
North of the Arctic Circle, Ruka and Kuusamo link quiet gravel with open fell views and the deep silence of Lapland. The roads on this day feel genuinely remote, even though warm northern hospitality waits at Pohjolan Pirtti.
