Explore one of the most protected marine areas on the Costa Brava on a full-length catamaran cruise from Roses. This experience combines quiet sailing along the Montgrí coast, snorkelling near the Medes Islands, a second swim stop at Cala Montgó, and a barbecue served on board.
Depart from the Ginjolers dock in central Roses and sail south along the Montgrí coastline, an area known for long cliffs, pine-covered slopes, and limited access from land. The catamaran passes l’Estartit and the Foradada sea cave before reaching the Medes Islands, where sailing is prioritised whenever conditions allow to keep the journey calm and steady.
The first stop is near Meda Gran, where the catamaran anchors for around 30 minutes. This area is known for clear water and abundant marine life, making it well suited to snorkelling. Guests can enter the water directly from the boat, use the floating mat, or relax on deck while taking in views of the islands.
The cruise then continues to Cala Montgó for a longer stop. Here there is time to swim, snorkel, and relax on board while a barbecue is prepared and served with salads, bread, and drinks, followed by fresh fruit. After the stop, the return sail follows the same coastline back to Roses. The skipper may adjust anchoring locations or timing depending on weather and sea conditions while maintaining the overall structure of the excursion.
Boarding and disembarkation usually take place at the Ginjolers dock in the centre of Roses, directly opposite Hotel Ramblamar. This is a central and convenient meeting point close to local amenities.
No sailing experience is required. This excursion is suitable for guests who want a longer day on the water with protected marine environments, swimming, and food included.
Participants should be comfortable spending several hours on a boat and entering the water via ladder. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times, particularly during snorkelling stops.
This route combines coastal scenery with one of the most important marine reserves in the western Mediterranean. Two contrasting stops offer variety, with the Medes Islands providing excellent snorkelling conditions and Cala Montgó offering a more relaxed anchorage for swimming and dining.
The experience is planned around space, steady pacing, and practical comfort on board. Sailing is prioritised when conditions allow, reusable cups are used, and catering is timed to fit naturally around time in the water rather than fixed schedules.
The excursion lasts approximately five and a half hours, departing at 09:30 and returning around 15:00.
Return times may vary slightly depending on sea conditions and the final route chosen by the skipper.
Boarding and disembarkation normally take place at the Ginjolers dock in the centre of Roses, opposite Hotel Ramblamar.
If conditions require a change to Santa Margarida, guests are informed ahead of time.
There are two swim stops: one near Meda Gran in the Medes Islands and a second stop at Cala Montgó.
The Medes Islands stop is shorter and focused on snorkelling, while Cala Montgó allows more time to swim and relax.
