Experience canyoning in Mallorca’s Biniaraix Ravine, a scenic yet technical descent carved into the Tramuntana Mountains near Sóller. This aquatic route blends natural beauty with steep rappels, offering a more advanced challenge for those ready to take the next step.
The session begins with a short walk along cobbled paths lined with ancient olive trees, offering spectacular views across the Sóller Valley and out to Puerto de Sóller. From there, the adventure enters a narrow gorge with high rock walls shaped by years of water erosion. This part of the Tramuntana range is known for its vertical drops, and you’ll see that reflected in the route—expect plenty of rappels, some of them long and technical.
The descent continues through a deep canyon system where flowing water has carved tight channels and dramatic rock formations. As an N2-level canyon, you’ll need to manage exposed sections, precise ropework, and fast-moving water. The total time in the canyon is about 5 hours, with features including multiple rappels, slides, jumps (conditions allowing), and pool crossings. This route doesn’t require a car shuttle, so once the descent is complete, you’ll make your way back on foot through the same scenic surroundings.
Biniaraix Ravine is located in the municipality of Sóller, nestled within the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. The ravine draws water from the Ofre and Alfàbia mountain systems, creating an aquatic environment even during cooler months. It’s easily one of the most beautiful and dramatic canyons on the island due to its sheer walls and consistent flow during the rainy season.
The meeting point is at the Repsol Service Station in Sóller. From there, it’s a short drive to the start of the walk-in. The approach path itself is part of the charm, passing through traditional stone terraces and olive groves with views that show off the area’s natural and cultural character. Though remote in feel, the area is easily accessed from nearby towns like Fornalutx, Biniaraix, and Sóller.
Participants should have previous canyoning experience or be confident with ropes and rappelling techniques. This isn’t a session for complete beginners, and your guide will assess your ability to ensure the group’s safety and pace are maintained.
You should also be comfortable in moving water and have a good level of physical fitness. Sections of this canyon can be physically demanding and require teamwork, balance, and care when navigating through exposed or narrow sections.
These sessions are led by qualified canyoning professionals with detailed local knowledge of the Tramuntana range. Their experience ensures that the route is run safely and efficiently, adjusting to group ability and current water conditions. All gear is provided, and guides take care to create an enjoyable but well-structured outing, even in more technical terrain.
This particular route is ideal for canyoners looking to push their skills in a challenging but rewarding environment. The setting is visually striking, and the mix of natural features makes it a memorable choice for those wanting a real mountain adventure beyond the usual tourist spots.
This route is best suited for people with previous canyoning experience or those comfortable with ropes and vertical descents. It involves a number of technical rappels, which require good control and confidence when using the gear.
Beginners are encouraged to try an easier canyon like Coanegra first before attempting Biniaraix. If you’ve done some abseiling or climbing before and are confident around water, your guide may still consider you for the group—just mention your background when booking.
The descent through Biniaraix Ravine typically takes around 5 hours, with the total activity lasting longer when including the approach and return. The terrain is steep and rocky, and you'll need to carry your gear and maintain energy for continuous movement and technical sections.
This is one of the more physically demanding canyons on the island. It’s not a race, but participants should be prepared for sustained effort across slippery and uneven surfaces, with plenty of arm and leg work during descents and pool crossings.
This ravine includes multiple technical rappels down steep rock faces, natural water slides, narrow rock corridors, and pool crossings. It’s a proper vertical canyon, and you’ll use ropes extensively under your guide’s supervision.
Depending on seasonal water levels, you may also encounter flowing water along the route that adds to the challenge. Some jumps may be available if the water depth allows, though the focus here is primarily on ropework and navigating steep sections.
You’ll need to bring swimwear, a towel, a full change of dry clothes, sunscreen, and sunglasses. You’ll also need strong trainers or canyoning shoes that you don’t mind getting wet—no sandals or flimsy footwear.
In terms of supplies, bring at least 1.5L of water, a sandwich or snacks like nuts or fruit, and optionally an underwater camera. Everything else—wetsuit, harness, helmet, and ropes—is provided for you.
Yes, the session includes all required technical equipment: wetsuit, booties, full harness setup, helmet, dry container, and group gear like ropes and carabiners. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure safety.
Your guide will give a full briefing on how to use everything correctly. If you’re not familiar with the gear, don’t worry—everything will be explained before the canyoning starts, and you’ll be supervised throughout.
The meeting point is at the Repsol Service Station in Sóller (Ctra. de Desviament, 8, 07100 Sóller). From there, you'll follow the guide in your own vehicle to the start of the walk-in route.
Transport is not included in the price. If you don’t have access to a car, it’s best to contact the organiser via the adventuro chat in advance. Depending on availability, they may be able to help arrange a lift or offer guidance on the best transport options.
Toni was a great guide! It was an excellent day out and a great experience. The canyoning includes 1 hour hike in, 2.5 hour canyon and 1.5 hour hike out. Be prepared for some walking! Also don't forget your car keys in the shuttle car like we did...
Our climbing instructor Domingo was excellent. Calm and assured, with emphasis on safety and ensuring we were climbing within our limits.
