You'll sit while the camel is still kneeling, then walk a private loop along Essaouira's empty shore. This is a calm outing for families and anyone who wants time on the beach without a fast pace. Book two hours or three, in the morning, afternoon, or as the light softens at the end of the day.
A driver can collect you from a hotel in or near the medina, or you meet on the sand beside Diabat. The camels are already down, so you settle into a saddle built for this walk and feel the stand-up, which is the liveliest moment of the outing. After that you move at a slow walk along deserted beach, low dunes, and tracks through the forest. There is no trot or canter, and children stay in the middle of the line so the guide can keep an eye on everyone.
Two hours is a lovely first outing, especially with younger children. Three hours gives you more of the coast and the woodland behind it, and sunset uses the same stretch in warmer light. You finish where you started, then the same vehicle takes you back if you used pickup.
You start from the village of Diabat or the beach beside it, a few kilometres from Essaouira. Open sand sits right there, so you step into the outing instead of sitting in a car.
The shore is broad and usually quiet once you leave the town edge. Dunes and a belt of forest sit between the village and the water, which is why a short family loop and a longer afternoon walk can use the same beautiful stretch of coast.
No riding experience is needed. Anyone can join, including young children, and those under 4 sit with an adult on the same camel.
Wear clothes you can sit in for two or three hours and closed shoes that stay on when the camel stands. Bring sun protection for the open beach.
Private groups can run to twenty, so larger families can stay together on one outing. The camels are used to first-time guests, and the saddles are made for sitting this way for a couple of hours.
A guide stays with your group the whole time, and hotel pickup from the medina is included. Sophie looks after bookings in French and English and is usually quick to confirm.
A driver collects you from a hotel in or near the medina, or you meet at Diabat or on the beach. The camels are kneeling, so you can sit, laugh at the stand-up, and settle before you move off.
You walk a private loop along the beach, across the dunes, and through the forest. The guide keeps the group together so children and first-time guests can enjoy the view at an easy pace.
You come back to the start and dismount while the camel kneels. The same vehicle returns you to your hotel if you used pickup, with time to brush off the sand before the rest of your day.
You can start from Diabat or from the beach beside the village, about 3 km from Essaouira, or use the included hotel pickup from a stay inside or near the medina. The sand is close, so you are not spending the outing on a transfer.
If you make your own way, a short taxi from town is enough. Arrive in clothes you can sit in and closed shoes that will stay on when the camel stands.
You start from Diabat or from the beach beside the village, a few kilometres from Essaouira. Hotel pickup from a stay inside or near the medina is included if you would rather be collected.
A short taxi from town is usually enough if you travel to Diabat yourself. You are on the sand quickly, so most of the time you booked is spent on the camel.
The camel is already kneeling, so you sit, settle, and hear how the stand-up will feel. That rise is the lively moment. After that the walk is slow and even.
Listen to the guide for sitting down at the end as well. If anyone in the group is nervous, the briefing at the start can go slowly.
Yes. There is no minimum age. Children under 4 sit with an adult on the same camel, which is how the youngest guests travel.
Older children who can sit on their own camel come as their own place. The outing is built for families, so the line stays together at a walk.
No. This is a calm walk for first-time guests and families. You do not need to have sat on a camel before.
Closed shoes and clothes you can sit in for two or three hours are enough. The guide keeps the group together so everyone stays comfortable.
Your booking stays a private group of up to 20 people. You will not be joined to another party.
Larger families and groups of friends can travel together on one booking. That is why this outing works well when everyone wants to stay in the same line.
Yes. Two people can sit on one camel. Children under 4 always share with an adult.
Older guests who want their own camel should be booked that way. The saddles are built for this kind of walk, not for a racing seat.
Wear clothes you can sit in for two or three hours, and closed shoes that stay on when the camel stands. A hat and sunscreen matter on the open beach.
A light layer helps when the wind comes off the Atlantic. You do not need riding boots or special kit.
Yes. Pickup and drop-off from a hotel inside or near the Essaouira medina are included. The driver can collect you if you share the hotel name.
Accommodation well outside town may sit outside that zone. Say where you are staying if you are unsure whether the included run still applies.
Sophie and the guides work in French and English. Some guides also speak Arabic and Berber.
If your group is mixed, pick the language everyone can follow at the start. That keeps the briefing simple before the camels stand.
You send a request for your date, length, and whether you want morning, afternoon, or sunset. Sophie is usually quick to reply and confirm.
Wait for that confirmation before you treat the time as booked. If your first choice is full, another session on the same day may still be open.
