Swap the resort routine for a try-dive boat day on Marsa Alam's the Red Sea. Instructor-led try dives in shallow reef water suit first-timers who want a proper taste of scuba without a full course. A guide and hotel transfers are part of the package, so you can focus on the session rather than logistics. A meal is built into the longer format, which gives you a proper break between the active sections.
The dive crew fit your kit and run through safety on board before leaving the marina. Instructors stay close on shallow try dives suited to first-timers, with a calm pace and time to practise breathing underwater before the second stop. Buddy checks and equalising tips are covered on deck before anyone enters the water, with instructors or guides staying close throughout the dives.
The gap between dives gives you time to eat lightly, dry off and talk through what you saw on the first reef. A meal on board or at a desert stop splits the active time and gives you shade between legs. If visibility drops or swell builds, the captain may swap to a closer reef so you still get safe bottom time rather than forcing an exposed site. Try dives stay shallow with instructors close, and medical forms apply before tanks are issued.
Marsa Alam stretches along Egypt's quieter southern Red Sea, with newer resorts set back from long sandy bays. Reef sites and boat jetties are reached by sea from marinas north or south of the main hotel belt.
Included collection reaches standard Marsa Alam resort hotels, with pickup times confirmed closer to the day. Leave a little buffer at reception in case the van is delayed along the strip, and share your hotel name and phone number when you book.
This is built for guests who have never dived before. You should be comfortable in the sea and able to follow briefing instructions. Say if you are a nervous swimmer so the crew can offer extra flotation and a slower pace.
For the boat, swimwear, towel and reef-safe sunscreen are enough. Medical questionnaires apply before try dives, so answer honestly when you check in on the boat.
Hotel pickup and return simplify the day so you travel once each way. Guides set a pace that suits mixed groups, and safety briefings happen before you head onto the water.
Food on the longer day means you stay out for the full window without a mid-trip hotel run. Say dietary needs when you book so the kitchen or crew can try to match them.
We'll collect you from your Marsa Alam hotel and take you to the start point. Be ready with the kit listed for this session and any voucher details. The crew talk through safety, timing and how the scuba diving will run before you head out.
The core of the day is guided scuba diving time in the Red Sea. Stay with your group, listen to the briefing and ask if you want a slower pace or extra help with kit. Listen to paddle commands, spacing advice or riding tips from your guide and stay with the group unless told otherwise.
A meal is served between active sections so you can drink water, eat and reset in the shade before the next leg of the day. Your guide stays close throughout and can slow the pace if you want extra help with kit, spacing in the water or a quieter route on the trail.
After the last section you transfer back to your hotel in Marsa Alam. The whole experience is about 8 hours door to door, so keep the rest of your schedule flexible. Gather your belongings, thank the crew and double-check you have towels, dry clothes and anything you left on the boat or at the base before you leave.
Yes. Collection from hotels in the Marsa Alam area is part of this experience. Give your hotel name when you book so the driver can find the right gate, and be ready in the window you are given.
Build the whole 8-hour shape into your day rather than planning something tight immediately afterwards. Traffic along resort roads can slow the van.
You need an existing scuba certification and logged dives suitable for boat diving in open water. Bring your certification card and logbook so the crew can verify level before tanks are issued.
Say if you are nervous or a weak swimmer so the crew can pace the session and offer flotation where it helps.
A meal is served as part of the day. Say any dietary needs when you confirm your place so the kitchen can try to match them.
Soft drinks beyond what is served may be extra. Bring cash if you want extras on the boat or at the base.
Practical kit is swimwear or comfortable clothes for the activity, sun protection and a towel. Closed shoes help on boats and in the desert.
A dry bag keeps phones off wet decks. Reef-safe sunscreen matters on long days in the Marsa Alam sun.
Scuba kit for the dives is issued by the crew. Bring your own mask if you prefer the fit. Ask when you book if you need a slower pace or extra briefing time on the day.
Fit helmets, life jackets or harnesses before you start so you are not adjusting them mid-session. Ask when you book if you need a slower pace or extra briefing time on the day.
This runs for groups from 1 to 15 people. Smaller groups mean more attention from your guide on the water or in the dunes.
Private formats keep the whole boat or vehicle to your party. Follow the guide's spacing in the water and on trails.
About 8 hours including collection and the main activity time. Keep the whole window free rather than squeezing other plans around it.
A late appearance at reception or the meeting point shortens time on the activity because the session leaves with the group.
Families are welcome when children are comfortable with the activity format. Infant seats may be available on transfers where listed.
Say ages when you book so the crew can plan seating, kit sizes and pacing on the water or in the desert.
This activity needs workable conditions. If wind, sea state or sand storms rule it out, the crew may reschedule or switch sites.
You will be told as early as they can once morning conditions are clear. Have a loose plan for the rest of the day.
Give your hotel name and a reachable phone number when you book. We'll confirm the pickup window or meeting pin closer to the day.
Notes are the place for dietary needs, ages, or a later pickup if you have an evening plan after the session.
