Forest and lake ice outside Rovaniemi are the ground for this snowmobile outing, with a one hour safari or a longer three hour run. Pickup in Rovaniemi is included. A short briefing covers riding gear, helmet, gloves and how the sled moves before you leave the marked trails.
Warm riding gear, a helmet and gloves are waiting once we collect you, and your guide walks through safety and the basics of sled control. The first minutes on marked trails stay steady so you can feel how the machine moves, then you follow forest, frozen bog edges and lake ice at a moderate pace.
Choose the shorter safari if you want a first taste, or the three hour run if you want more time deeper in the forest and on the open snow. Solo or two-up riding is offered. The three hour option asks for a driving licence. When you come off the trail we confirm how you get back into Rovaniemi, because a return drop-off is not part of this outing.
Marked trails through snowy forest, along frozen bogs and across lake ice sit in the countryside around Rovaniemi. You travel there with us from the city, so you do not need to find the trailhead yourself.
We collect you in Rovaniemi. Share your hotel or cabin address so we can plan the run out. A return drop-off is not part of this outing, and we will confirm how you get back into town when we set the meeting time.
No snowmobile experience is required. The briefing covers how the sled moves, and the first minutes on marked trails stay calm so you can settle into the machine. Guests need to be at least 3 years old.
If you choose the three hour run, a driving licence is required. Wear warm layers under the riding gear we give you, and winter boots for the time off the sled. Tell us who is coming so we can shape the session around your group.
Marked-trail safaris are still led by Finnish guides from a family that started hosting visitors in 1979, now in a third generation. They keep the outing to your own group, with a first-hour safari or a longer three hour run rather than a one-size session.
You get riding kit, a helmet and gloves, and a guide who starts with control on marked trails before the pace comes up. The countryside around Rovaniemi gives you forest, bog edges and lake ice in the same outing.
We collect you in Rovaniemi and fit warm riding gear, a helmet and gloves. Your guide walks through safety and the basics of sled control before anyone leaves the marked trails. Wear your own warm layers underneath, as you will go from the vehicle onto the snow.
The first minutes stay steady so you can feel how the machine moves. Then the route runs through snowy forest, along frozen bog edges and across lake ice at a moderate pace, with time to look at the pines between the turns.
Stay out for the one hour safari if you want a first taste, or choose the three hour run for more time deeper in the forest. When you come off the trail we confirm how you get back into Rovaniemi, because a return drop-off is not part of this outing.
You do not need any sled background. The briefing covers safety and how the machine moves, and the first minutes on marked trails stay steady so you can feel the rhythm before the pace comes up.
Your guide leads the safari through forest, bog edges and lake ice at a moderate speed. Questions are welcome while you are on the trail, and we can linger in the first block if you want more time to settle.
This is an easy outing rather than a long hike. You should be comfortable sitting on a snowmobile for one hour, or for three hours on the longer run, in Finnish winter weather.
Dress in warm layers you can add or remove under the riding kit, and wear winter boots with a decent sole for the time off the sled. We can pause so you can warm your hands before the next stretch.
Guests need to be at least 3 years old. Tell us the ages in your group so we can say whether the sled and the hours on the trail will suit everyone who wants to come.
Everyone who joins should be able to sit on a snowmobile and follow simple safety instructions. Bring extra layers for younger guests, as they cool down faster once you stop moving.
Wear warm layers under the riding gear we give you, a hat, and winter boots. We supply the riding kit, helmet and gloves for the time you are on the sled.
Bring sunglasses if the snow is bright, and a small dry bag for your phone. Have your hotel or cabin address ready so we can plan pickup in Rovaniemi.
A driving licence is required on the three hour run. The one hour safari does not ask for a licence in the product notes, so tell us which length you want and we will confirm what you need to bring.
Keep the licence with you if you choose the longer outing. We will check it before you leave the trailhead on that option.
The one hour safari usually fills about four hours door to door, including pickup, the briefing and the run back toward town. The three hour run usually fills about five hours in all.
Solo or two-up riding is offered on both lengths. We will confirm timings once we have your address.
The session needs a sound trail and safe ice, so we watch the temperature and the state of the ground before we set out. Soft ice, a sudden thaw or a closed trail can mean we have to move your time or stop the day.
If we cannot run, we will be in touch as early as we can with the next step. Please treat this as a winter activity that depends on the snow staying rideable, not as an indoor session.
Pickup in Rovaniemi is included. Share your hotel or cabin address so we can plan the run out. We will send you a time once that address is with us.
This outing does not include a return drop-off. We will confirm how you get back into town when we set the meeting time, so you are not left guessing at the trailhead.
Meals and drinks are not part of this outing, so eat before we collect you or bring a small snack of your own. The day is about the sled time, not a sit-down meal on the trail.
Pack the warm layers and boots you already own. If you have questions about what we will have with us on the day, ask us in advance.
Solo and two-up riding are both offered. Tell us who wants their own machine and who would rather ride together, and we will set the group up that way.
The first minutes on marked trails are there so everyone can feel the sled before the pace comes up, whether you are driving or sitting behind.

About the centre
Rovaniemi
You'll spend your days on private forest and lake land outside Rovaniemi, where ice-track driving, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and fishing sit alongside quiet time by the fire. This is a family that has been looking after visitors in Finnish Lapland since 1979, now in its third generation, with Finnish guides who know the ground.
We'll collect you from around Rovaniemi, kit you for the cold, and keep the outing to your own group on private land. Jesse and the team shape each session around how you want to spend the day, from a first hour on the ice track to a longer evening under the northern lights.
