Take part in a friendly archery club designed to bring the local community together. Meeting every second Sunday, the club gives members access to a safe range, quality equipment, and a supportive environment to develop their skills. It’s suitable for both beginners and experienced archers, with the option to bring your own bow or hire equipment.
The club runs regular Sunday sessions where members can practise target archery with ranges of up to 80 metres. A welcoming environment encourages both beginners and experienced archers to participate, with plenty of time during the day to practise, refine techniques, and enjoy the sport at a relaxed pace.
Foam targets up to 134cm are used, making the range suitable for both recurve and compound bows with training-tipped arrows. Members have the option of bringing their own bow or hiring equipment on the day. The club structure also allows for informal coaching and advice, creating a supportive community where skills can grow over time.
Sessions are flexible to accommodate different goals. Some archers attend for casual practice, while others use the range to prepare for competitions. Whether attending for fun, skill progression, or social interaction, each club day offers a balance of independence and shared enthusiasm for the sport.
The club meets at Sydera Croft near Lonemore, just outside Dornoch on the East Coast of Sutherland. This private outdoor setting provides an open and safe environment, with clearly marked shooting lanes and a well-managed range.
Its position in the North Highlands makes it a convenient hub for local participants while still being accessible for those travelling from further afield. The surrounding scenery adds to the experience, making it a pleasant place to spend a Sunday developing archery skills.
No previous archery experience is required to join the club. Equipment hire is available for those who do not yet own a bow, making it accessible to beginners who wish to give the sport a try before committing to buying their own kit.
Those bringing their own bows should ensure they have suitable training-tipped arrows. Safety rules are explained and enforced during each session, ensuring all participants can enjoy archery in a controlled and welcoming environment.
