A reasonable level of fitness is required as you’ll be hiking for two days with a loaded backpack, covering varied terrain. Expect to walk 6-10 miles each day with some elevation gain.
You will need suitable outdoor clothing (waterproof jacket, warm layers), sturdy hiking boots, a backpack, a lightweight sleeping bag, and a sleeping mat. We also recommend packing personal items like a water bottle, snacks, and any necessary toiletries. We will provide a detailed kit list upon booking.
Wild camping involves setting up camp outside of designated campsites, usually in remote areas. In the Lake District, wild camping is generally tolerated if done responsibly. We will teach you the principles of "Leave No Trace" to ensure minimal impact on the environment.
We run the course in most weather conditions. However, if severe weather is forecast and it would compromise safety, we may reschedule or offer an alternative date. We will provide guidance on suitable clothing and gear to help you stay comfortable in a variety of conditions.
