Spend an evening in the Abu Dhabi desert combining dune bashing, a camel farm visit, sandboarding and a camp BBQ with live entertainment. Shared air-conditioned Land Cruiser transfers collect you from Abu Dhabi hotels between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm and return you to the city by around 9:30 pm, so the full outing lasts roughly six hours from pick-up to drop-off.
After pick-up your driver heads into the dunes for dune bashing and a desert drive in a shared Land Cruiser, with up to six guests per jeep. The climbs, descents and turns across soft sand are the main adventure stretch of the afternoon, with time to enjoy open desert views as the light softens towards sunset.
Stops typically include a camel farm and a short camel ride, plus sandboarding on selected slopes. Henna painting is available as part of the wider evening once you reach camp. Optional quad biking can be added at the camp for an extra charge if you want another burst of adrenaline later on.
The evening continues at a desert camp with Arabic coffee, tea, soft drinks, shisha and a BBQ dinner. Live entertainment usually includes belly dancing, a Tanura show and fire shows before your return transfer to the city, with drop-off usually back at your original pick-up area around 9:30 pm.
The safari runs in the desert outside Abu Dhabi, with hotel pick-ups across the city rather than a fixed self-drive meeting point. The camp sits away from the urban core so you get open dune views and a traditional evening atmosphere once the driving and sand activities are done.
Travel time depends on your pick-up point and traffic. Exact collection details are confirmed when your booking request is accepted, so be ready a few minutes early at the lobby or agreed point.
No previous desert experience is needed. Drivers operate the 4x4s for dune bashing, and staff guide the camp activities. Comfortable clothing and closed or secure footwear work best for sandboarding and walking at camp, with a warmer layer useful in winter from November to March.
Maximum participant weight is 120 kg. Bring sunglasses and sunscreen for the late afternoon light, plus a camera if you want sunset and camp photos.
Tours are built around clear communication, punctual transfers and attentive drivers who know the Abu Dhabi desert routes well. Guests regularly mention smooth organisation from pick-up to drop-off, with shared vehicles that keep the evening moving without long waits between stops.
The evening format balances adventure on the dunes with a relaxed camp dinner and cultural entertainment, so first-time visitors and returning guests both get a full desert night rather than a short drive-only outing.
Be ready at your Abu Dhabi hotel lobby or agreed pick-up point a few minutes before collection. Shared air-conditioned Land Cruisers collect guests between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm, with up to six guests per jeep for the journey into the dunes.
