Day 4 – SUP on Lake Bohinj
Travel to Lake Bohinj in Triglav National Park, a glacial lake with warm, clear water and plenty of quiet beaches. Paddle at a relaxed pace and enjoy swimming beneath towering peaks before heading back for your final evening in Bovec.
Day 5 – Return to Venice
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to Venice Airport. Departure times will be coordinated in advance to suit the group.
This trip is based in Bovec, a small alpine town in western Slovenia near the Italian border. Surrounded by the Julian Alps and nestled close to the Soča River, Bovec is known for its outdoor sports, friendly atmosphere, and incredible natural setting. It’s an ideal base for exploring both countries, with quick access to paddleboarding lakes and rivers.
Activities take place in various locations across the region, including Lake Predil in Italy, the upper and lower Soča River, Lake Bohinj in Triglav National Park, and the Most na Soči Gorge. These spots were chosen for their paddling quality, scenic value, and sense of space, offering both adventure and calm. Transfers between locations are included and handled by your guide, keeping everything smooth and stress-free.
You’ll stay in Bovec for four nights in comfortable shared apartments, each with twin rooms. The accommodation is simple but well-equipped, and ideal for relaxing after a full day outdoors. A single room upgrade is available if you’d prefer your own space. Rooms include fresh linen, private or shared bathrooms, and space to store your kit.
Each day starts with breakfast served either on-site or in a nearby café. Evening meals are also included and will take place in local restaurants or within the accommodation complex, offering a relaxed, social way to end the day. There’s free time built in for short walks, rest, or exploring the small shops and bakeries in town.
Participants must be at least 14 years old. You’ll need a basic level of fitness and confidence in water, as the trip includes paddling, swimming, and walking with equipment. No previous SUP experience is required – your guide will teach you the techniques and make sure everyone is comfortable and safe throughout the trip.
This trip is guided by an experienced SUP instructor who has led paddleboarding and rafting trips across Europe. The itinerary has been refined over several visits to Slovenia, picking out the most enjoyable lakes and rivers to create a balanced and exciting programme. Whether it’s your first time on a board or you’ve paddled before, the route is suitable and supportive.
The trip is also designed to make logistics as easy as possible – with airport transfers, daily transport, equipment, accommodation and most meals included. Group sizes are kept small, so you’ll get to know your fellow paddlers without feeling rushed. It’s a friendly, sociable week that combines guided adventure with flexibility, all in a beautiful alpine setting.
No prior paddleboarding experience is needed. This trip is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. All sessions are led by qualified guides who will teach you the fundamentals of SUP, including paddling technique, balance, and safety. You’ll start on flat water, which is ideal for learning and building confidence.
For more experienced paddlers, the locations offer beautiful terrain to explore and opportunities to practise more advanced skills, such as navigating gentle river flow or improving stroke efficiency. The trip is designed to be supportive and inclusive, with plenty of encouragement whether it’s your first time on a board or your tenth.
A moderate level of fitness is recommended. You’ll be on your feet while paddling, and you’ll also need to carry your board and kit short distances to and from the water. Each activity session lasts between 2–3.5 hours, and you’ll be active for most of the day.
That said, the pace is relaxed and there are regular breaks built in. You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should feel comfortable being outdoors, walking short distances, and spending time in or around water. If you enjoy hill walking or swimming, you’ll likely cope very well with the demands of the week.
All paddleboarding and rafting equipment is provided, including boards, paddles, leashes, buoyancy aids, helmets, wetsuits, neoprene shoes, and dry bags if needed. You’ll also receive an energy bar before each SUP activity and access to group photos and videos.
You should bring your own swimwear, a towel, and a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting wet. We also recommend bringing a warm layer, waterproof jacket, sunglasses with a strap, sun cream, and a reusable water bottle. A small daypack is useful for carrying personal items during transfers and activity days.
You’ll be staying in shared apartments in Bovec, a charming mountain town with access to shops, cafes, and walking trails. The apartments offer twin rooms with shared bathrooms and communal areas for relaxing. Bedding and towels are provided, and there's enough space to store your equipment and clothing.
Evening meals and breakfasts are either provided at the apartments or in a nearby restaurant, with group dining offering a social way to wind down each day. If you'd prefer your own space, single room upgrades are available for an extra cost. The accommodation is chosen for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and proximity to local amenities.
You’ll be collected from Venice Marco Polo Airport on arrival day and transferred by private minibus to Bovec. The journey takes about 2.5 hours and passes through scenic alpine routes. Your return transfer to the airport is also included and coordinated with the group’s departure times.
Daily transfers to paddleboarding and rafting locations are also included. These are handled by the same guide and vehicle throughout the trip, keeping things simple and relaxed. You won’t need to worry about logistics or directions – everything is taken care of, allowing you to focus fully on enjoying the experience.
