Cruise along the peaceful Bude Canal on a stand up paddleboard, taking in the towpaths, lock gates, and local wildlife along the way. With a calm 2-mile stretch of sheltered water, it's an ideal location for all experience levels looking to enjoy the outdoors from the water.
After checking in at the SUP trailer in the Crescent Overflow Car Park, you'll be given a quick safety and equipment briefing. All rentals include a quality paddleboard, adjustable paddle and leash. Wetsuits are not included as standard, but can be requested in advance. Leashes must be worn throughout your session.
You’ll set off directly onto the Bude Canal, which is well-suited for paddling thanks to its slow-moving, sheltered waters. The route includes 2 miles of easy paddling past tree-lined towpaths, under bridges, alongside active lock gates and past a popular floating café. You’re free to paddle at your own pace – whether that’s a steady cruise or a more focused workout session. The canal is a relaxed, accessible space for solo paddlers, families or small groups to enjoy a bit of time on the water.
All paddleboards are collected from the dedicated SUP trailer located in the Crescent Overflow Car Park in Bude, Cornwall. This is a short walk from the canal itself and conveniently positioned for local amenities, including cafes and toilets.
The Bude Canal provides a scenic and accessible spot for paddling with flat water, easy access, and a largely wind-sheltered environment, making it a reliable choice in most weather conditions.
You must be able to confidently stand up paddleboard before renting, as this is a self-guided session with no instructor present. Minimum age is 10, and all under 18s must be accompanied on the water by an adult. Wearing a leash is compulsory for safety.

We had a lovely time paddle boarding across the canal taking in the view from on the water up close and seeing the ducks!
