British Cycling Ride Leadership Award Level 2 is for road ride leaders who already hold Level 1 and want to run longer, lonelier days. Think fifty-mile club runs into quieter lanes, not café sprints around the town sign. You refine group etiquette, communication and risk calls when the group is tired, wet and spread across a climb.
Delivery is blended: roughly two hours of directed online learning through British Cycling Learning, then one assessed day with a tutor on the road. You are not learning to pedal harder. You are learning to notice who has bonked, who has taken a wrong turn, and when the weather window is closing on a remote B-road.
You must be eighteen, hold Supporter Membership, and arrive as a qualified Level 1 Ride Leader. Valid first aid may be required for insurance depending on how you deploy the award afterward. There is no obligation to lead for British Cycling once you pass.
One assessed day on the road plus approximately two hours of online learning completed beforehand.
Level 2 is a step up from Level 1, not a repeat of the same café loop with a different badge.
Level 2 assessment happens on the one-day course after you complete online learning.
