Ian is an experienced flying instructor with more than three decades in the air. He began flying hang gliders and microlights in the late 1980s, later adding commercial training in the United States and time flying twin-engine aircraft. His career has taken him from establishing a microlight operation over Victoria Falls to instructing across Portugal, Essex and the South West. Now based at Popham Airfield, he offers structured, relaxed microlight training with a strong focus on safety, practical skills, and helping pilots work towards their NPPL(M). With extensive long-distance touring experience and a deep understanding of aircraft maintenance, he brings a technical, hands-on approach to every lesson. Whether you are taking a first flight or working towards a licence, he provides clear guidance and a welcoming environment seven days a week, subject to weather.
