What is REC?

Rescue Emergency Care (REC) is a UK training organisation specialising in outdoor, expedition and pre-hospital first aid. REC syllabi focus on scenario-based care in remote settings: prolonged incident management, environmental injuries and decisions when ambulance access is not immediate.

REC certificates are widely accepted by National Governing Bodies and outdoor employers alongside other sixteen-hour outdoor first aid providers. Training is delivered by REC-approved tutors at centres across the UK; the certificate comes from REC through that provider.

Choosing a course

Confirm your target award accepts REC sixteen-hour outdoor first aid before you book. Mountain Training, Paddle UK and many instructor pathways specify outdoor syllabi rather than office emergency courses. Leave a comment when you book naming your NGB award if you need the centre to confirm acceptance.

Sixteen-hour courses run over two days with continuous practical assessment. Compare weekend versus block dates, venue (classroom only versus outdoor scenarios) and whether the listing is explicitly REC-delivered or a multi-provider outdoor first aid course.
