Plav is a glacial-lake town beneath the Prokletije, the wild 'Accursed Mountains' on Montenegro's eastern border. Together with neighbouring Gusinje it is the country's gateway to its highest, most remote peaks and to one of Europe's great long-distance treks.
Glacial lakes and the Accursed Mountains
Glacial-lake hikes around Plav and Gusinje, the dramatic Grebaje and Ropojana valleys, and the cross-border Peaks of the Balkans trek linking Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo, in the Prokletije northeast. Open the Book here tab for dates.
