Where do Tara trips meet?

Often Foča or Šćepan Polje. The listing will say. Don't assume a Sarajevo hotel pickup unless it's written there.

Is high-water Tara a beginner trip?

No. High water after snowmelt is a different river. Lower summer runs can be the first-timer option. Say what you've done. Take the operator's call.

How cold is the water?

Cold. You'll get a wetsuit or equivalent on commercial trips. Still cold. That's the canyon.

Can I raft and hike Maglić on the same day?

Don't. They're two full days. Stack them and you'll do both badly.

Things to do in Foča & Tara

Foča is the gateway to the Tara canyon. Put-ins around Šćepan Polje are why you're here. The town is a river base, not a spa stop. You'll raft bigger water than a late-summer park run on the Una, then maybe sleep and hike Sutjeska the next day if your arms still work.

Canyon rafting

Tara rafting is the product: canyon walls, cold water, and a grade that depends on melt. Multi-day trips exist. Day trips exist. Both are weather and level dependent. This is not a splash in a city fountain. Listen to the safety talk.
