Do I need experience to start?

None. Beginner lessons assume you have never skied, and get you sliding, turning and stopping on gentle slopes safely.

Is skiing easier than snowboarding?

For the first day or two, usually yes. Skiing feels more natural early on, while snowboarding is harder at first and then clicks.

With lessons, sensible slope choices and a helmet, the risks are well managed. Instructors teach control and awareness from the start.

Warm waterproof layers, gloves, goggles and a helmet. A decent base layer makes cold days much better.

Is equipment provided or hired?

Skis, boots and a helmet are usually hired at the resort or included with lessons. Clothing is normally your own.

How fit do I need to be?

A bit of general fitness helps you enjoy full days, but beginners can take it gently and stop when the legs tire.

Lessons are the shortcut. A good instructor gets beginners turning and stopping safely in a day or two, and saves seasoned skiers from the bad habits that hold them back. There is terrain for every level, from nursery slopes to off-piste.
