A jet ski is a personal craft: you stand or sit on it and it is all about speed. A motorboat carries passengers and usually feels steadier. A power boating course is where you learn to skipper properly and can earn a qualification. This page is the trip or the hire.
You wear a buoyancy aid. You should still be comfortable on open water. Coastal trips can be wet. If falling in would panic you, say so before you book.
Layers you can get wet, a windproof jacket, and shoes with grip that can come off if you are asked to go barefoot on deck. Operators usually provide the buoyancy aid, and a waterproof on a RIB.
Minimum ages vary. Lake hire is often family-friendly. Fast RIBs sometimes set a higher minimum because of the impacts. Check the session.
Coastal trips are cancelled or moved for strong wind, poor visibility or a rough sea. Lake hire is more forgiving but still stops in storms. You will be offered another time under the operator’s weather policy.
