Welcome to the mighty Esk Gorge, the Lake District's ultimate gorge scrambling adventure. Describing the Esk Gorge is a challenge in itself. While many gorges offer loads of fun, Esk Gorge takes it to a whole new level – it's the biggest and the best. If you're seeking an unforgettable wilderness experience and have most of the day to spare, Esk Gorge is the place to be.
Your Esk Gorge adventure promises an action-packed day surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
Here's what you can expect:
Esk Gorge is nestled in the remote and stunning Eskdale region of the Lake District. The approach walk, while gentle and scenic, keeps crowds at bay, ensuring an exclusive wilderness experience. The gorge itself offers a dynamic combination of swimming, jumping, scrambling, and exploration in pristine surroundings.
The precise meeting point will be agreed upon booking.
Participants should be physically fit, comfortable in water, and ready for a day of adventure. While some jumps in the gorge can be high and potentially intimidating, there are also smaller and medium-height jumps, providing options for all comfort levels.
To ensure your comfort and safety during the Esk Gorge adventure, please bring the following items:
Please leave valuables, mobile phones, and jewelry behind to ensure their safety during the adventure.
Please wear comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for the prevailing weather conditions and sturdy trail shoes, trainers, or hiking boots.
We specialise in mountain adventures and outdoor activities, and Esk Gorge is no exception. Here's why you should choose us for your Esk Gorge adventure. Our experienced guides are trained to provide a safe and enjoyable experience in Esk Gorge. We supply top-quality equipment and safety gear to ensure your comfort and security throughout the adventure. Since 2009, we've been arranging fun and exciting activities for a wide range of people, making your visit to the Lake District truly fantastic, or to help locals discover new wonders.
We recommend you bring a complete change of clothing, a towel, a pair of shorts (to wear over the wetsuit), trainers or walking boots, light refreshments, and personal medication (if applicable).
The walks to each venue are short and easy. Once in the gorge we do move at a fairly steady pace (although it can feel quick). A good general level of fitness is recommended.
This is flexible and will be to suit you. We often meet clients in Ambleside, or if staying nearby we may arrange to meet at your accommodation.
Yes. Please bring at least one litre of water per person and a packed lunch & snacks. During the cooler months, you may wish to bring a flask of something hot: tea / coffee / hot chocolate / hot juice all work well.
